I got tired of listening to all the stupid bitching on this matter. In the end, we the player base have not progressed any farther than the WoW player base, where we bitch about what we don't have, then bitch about anything the devs bring us. Never happy, never satisfied, and we have no damn clue what we want as a whole.

Times like this it's best to step back and realize: it's just a video game. Calm the hell down. :sleep2:

The problem is that too many people play the game from too many different backgrounds. You're never going to please them all at the same time. In fact it's probably impossible to make any change that won't outrage some section of the community.

But you are right about the GW2 community, it is horrible. I've been saying that since early beta. The way that the subreddit went downhill when headstart went into effect was quite spectacular.

Yeah, I'm really surprised out how badly people are blowing this out of proportion when they don't even know exactly how it's going to work. All we have to go on is that anet showed a ring that's a little better than an exotic ring and it's all doom and gloom from there.

And mission complete, full charr t3 done! The details on the armor is amazing. The screen shot makes the textures look muddy though.

The new fractal mini dungeons are quite fun. They make you think your way through them a lot more than any of the older dungens do.

Also the 12pm event was a total let down. Anet dropped the ball on that one. They should have lowered the amount of people who could be in the zone and made more overflow servers. Hopefully they get it sorted out by tomorrow.

I've found the new fractal mini dungeons to be completely rage inducing. They pretty much don't allow for any mistakes.

The marsh one is nigh impossible due to the distance you have to run, changing paths, and the extreme amount of knockdowns and cripples. The boss in the zone with the pressure plates is a pain. If you don't have enough interrupts (and people using them), you can't win. Boss often follows the person up the ramp triggering the lava bucket. Can hardly get close to him because of the bombs and such.

Yeah. My group found the swamp one impossible to finish. If the path didn't change on us we were either crippled or knocked down making it pretty much impossible to get all 3 there in 30 seconds. I don't know if there is a group wide stability skill but that might be useful. But besides that the under water one, the grawl one (despite me falling into the lava and not being able to finish) and the charr assault on ascalon one were all fun.

Seems like the new map is really small. Smaller than pretty much any other pve map. That's kinda disappointing,

To be fair they said right from the start that it wasn't a full sized zone. It's a really nice looking area though, I love all the steam vents.

Yes, they've been banning quite a few bots over the last 2 weeks or so causing prices to go up on t6 materials and ectos. Which when I looked earlier tonight were close to 30s each. That is the highest they've ever been.

However orichalcum ore prices are still dropping steadily. Anet is going to have to do something about that or in another week to two weeks at most they will be going for less than 1s.

Ya know what's really disappointing is... that in the 5 and a half years they spent making this game, they clearly didn't spend any time at all learning what game balance is. It's really mind boggling how they managed to get to release while completely ignoring game balance.

What are you referring to?

Well the most obvious example of blatantly broken would be thieves. Who can still kill pretty much anything without a shred of thought due to the absurd damage they do with pretty much anything, including steal. But that's just one problem in the many with this games balance.

Yes. I was thinking to myself earlier that my fps had tanked while in LA. I assume it has to do with all the snow particle affects they added. I do not remember it being that bad during the halloween event either.

I'm enjoying the event so far. The jumping puzzle was really easy. Probably the easiest puzzle in the game so that was a little disappointing. But on the other hand I think the bell choir is going to make me rage quit and smash my keyboard. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us for the daily city events.

    • How old is this tip? Seems 15-20 years old? Processor states for the CPU under Windows power options has been a thing for a long, long time. It certainly isn't new or hidden... Also, with laptops it doesn't make any difference what OS you are running, all of them are configured for battery longevity over performance, for obvious reasons.
    • I can't believe Starmer is still there...his party lost so big. He's a stubborn coot, but this is largely unenforceable, so I would imagine he'll be resigning soon. A key here is for parents to buy their kids phones sans Internet access--and set up the Internet at home, where mom and day can, you know, act like parents instead expecting the government to raise their kids.
    • EA launches in-game advertising platform for brands to "connect with audiences" by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The gaming giant Electronic Arts is exploring more ways to inject real-life brands into its games. Announced today as EA Advertising, the new platform is attempting to make it easier for brands to reach out for deals with the company and put their products inside titles like EA Sports FC, Madden, NHL, Skate, or The Sims. EA revealed that its EA Sports side of the company brings in "hundreds of millions of players across console, PC, and mobile" every year. Fan engagement of these titles was also touted as being "extraordinary," with 23,000 NFL seasons worth of games being played in Madden NFL daily, while EA Sports FC sees over a billion matches a day. “Players come to EA’s games and live experiences every day to play, watch, create and connect,” said David Tinson, Chief Experiences Officer at Electronic Arts. “That gives brands a meaningful opportunity to show up in ways that add value and respect the player experience, while maintaining authenticity in the worlds our teams are building. With EA Advertising, we’re helping brands become part of those moments in ways that are relevant and built for players.” Using the new program EA Advertising, brands will be able to inject their products into games in real-time via dynamic placement. EA says partners will have access to everything from stadium signage in sports games and targeted adverts to in-game content custom-made for the brands. These are described as additions designed to "enhance, not disrupt" experiences. "In these interactive gameplay environments, brands become part of the game itself, reflecting how players engage with advertising in real-world contexts," adds the company "Brands can activate across live environments, tailoring placements to meet campaign objectives, and update campaigns with ongoing optimization informed by aggregated engagement insights." Current real-world brand partnerships EA has built into its games include Visa (EA Sports FC and College Football), Lowe's (EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and College Football), Red Bull (EA SPORTS FC), Xfinity and Peacock (EA SPORTS FC), and Mountain Dew’s (College Football).

    • UK to ban under-16s from social media following a six-week trial with teenagers by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels A few months ago, Neowin reported that the UK was trialing a social media ban with 300 teenagers for six weeks, that testing has come to an end, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that the country will ban under-16s from social media. Starmer said that this technology is making children unhappy and making it easier for bullies to harass and abuse them. He continued to talk about the addictive nature of social media, saying that it uses an infinite scroll designed to lock users in for hours. He said this interferes with children doing their homework, reading, playing with friends outside, and going to bed on time. Tackling the idea that nothing can be done about social media, Starmer said: The government’s action won’t stop at social media either, the PM said. It plans to take action on gaming services and livestreaming platforms. Right now, he said, strangers can contact any child unchecked. He said this wouldn’t happen in real life, and the government is going to stop it from happening online, too. The Labour government has overseen the introduction of the Online Safety Act, a big change to the internet which includes age verification on adult websites. This has led to a fair bit of backlash, but overall, the government is pushing ahead with these changes.
