Battlefield 3

Limited Edition it says, so then the only question would be if the Limited Edition is only available for pre order or if you can buy it once the game is released. Also my main motivation is right now the Limited Edition is $50, and iirc Crysis 2 was once only $50, and now it is $60 everywhere I look. So I also am pre-ordering it now to secure that $50 price, although it very well may stay $50 the entire time, but with that said it does seem the new trend in PC gaming is to charge the same as console games.

Also I just recently started a new job, so I am just kind of going crazy with the whole pre-ordering thing and just getting most of the games I plan on playing this year now basically.

But generally big games on release day have some sort of promotion for a gift card for up to $20. Bah. I have a bunch of months to pre-order, if its 100% pre-order I will just pre-order it the day before the release. :p

Just to claifiy to thoughs who don't know in regards to BF2 maps. I asked Gustav Haling and he said that Limited Edition gets you a map pack featuring 4 remastered BF2 maps for free.

Thoughs who don't pre-order the Limited Edition version can purchase this BF2 map pack 1 month after release of BF3 from in-game store.

It is sad that you have to pay $60 just to be able to go prone and use jets... Talking about ripping off.

bwahahahhaha.. you do realize that Battlefield 3 is something you probably never experienced before right? If you ever played BF2 you would know not to blurt out such nonsense.

Battlefield 3 goes so beyond anything you have seen on consoles on PC version it's not even funny.. jets, blackhawks, cobras, AA guns, vehicles, COMMANDERS who navigate the battlefield by using artillery and giving support (that's how killstreaks started in COD..) we've had those in BF2 for a looong time and it was done by a human player, you have boats, ships, 64 players, maps that are 4 times the size of anything Bad Company.

To say that for $60 you get just a prone functionality is so funny. Obviously you have never played BF2 ha ha. True Battlefield game is as close to real war you will get.

How do I give rep to this guy?

This is my BF2 account, in case you don't know:

BF:BC2 already had most of what you said, apart from the commander thing. I feel like BF3 is only an add-on to BF:BC2, not a standalone game on its own like BF2... That's why I was disappointed. Looks like they left those things out of bad company purposely so that we will have to buy BF3 for the full experience.

Yeah, maybe prone is a little bit too little. Then let me add "dolphin diving" and "bunny jumping" to the list.

I just don't understand.. if you have played BF2 as well. how can you state that BF3 is just for prone.. I mean.. if anything you should be criticizing the fact that Bad Company series gave us only fraction of what real Battlefield game felt like.. not the other way around..

Bad Company gave us on 2 maps with choppers (1 per side), no jets, no commander, no blackhawks in a real sense of the word (it was only on a SINGLE map and only at the end and it was useless), no real AA guns or anti-air defense but those ridiculous UAV drones and an occasional machine gun..

Bad Company series NEVER felt to me as true Battlefield experience.. it was ok experience overall but the maps were too small, it was way too consolified, way too little people and so forth.. I could see why some people might not find a value in console version for BF3 but hey, that's consoles.. I'm not playing BF3 on consoles.. sorry.. 24 players and smaller maps just won't cut it.. and I'm 100% sure they will use the map scaling thing based on number of players as they did in BF2..So on console you will indeed get a weaker experience.

But i guess I can see it from DICE's perspective.. they wanted to build this engine and you can't do it all at once.. so they built a smaller scale BF game and continued innovating from there by still appealing to a casual, young gamers who may have never played true Battlefield game.

Do you really remember how it felt playing a true BF game? When several blackhawks pile up next to each other packed with folks, the cobras are engaging, the tanks are thundering, and we are all going towards the city or the shore to take it while the commander is pointing out enemies, engaging UAVs and raining down arty on their positions.. How can you serously compare this to the Bad Company series?

Ok, so from studying these images and text...

http://battlefield.gamersverse.com/articles/655/game-informer-cover-issue-including-scans/

It goes without warning that kill cams and 4 player classes are returning from BC2 :(

5 player squads have always been part of Battlefield so were classes..

It is sad that you have to pay $60 just to be able to go prone and use jets... Talking about ripping off.

What the hell is wrong with you?

COMMANDERS who navigate the battlefield by using artillery and giving support

I don't think Commanders will be in BF3

I could do without kill cam, but 4 player classes is fine.

I have never said that I didn't enjoy BF2. I was criticizing EA for leaving out many parts in BF:BC2 on purpose so that they could milk us for more money. I was ripped off before with the BF2142 and I was still bitter about it. Just soon after BF2142 was released, it was abandoned by EA. I felt like BF:BC2 is running into the same track. Soon already, EA has already dropped support for BF:BC2 to focus on their new cash cow: BF3. I don't want another glitchy game like BF2 that took them years to fix. I want a real BF2 experience uninterrupted.

And yeah, the class system in BF:BC2 is beyond ****ed up. Everyone plays as medic and mows down pretty much any other class. They can also reheal themselves over and over. I ****ing hate that class. If you say about BF3 being the real battlefield experience, don't bring trash from Bad Company and screw our battlefield experiences. I did enjoy BF2 so I can sympathize your BF2 love. I just wish that EA listen to us and give us the real BF2 experience.

4 player classes... well guess they've already rubbished the user end part of it... probably only have 1 unlock for each class too so have cool lack of weapons (here's to hoping they're not unrealistic bs ones at that too). Be about as cool as medal of honor... should just not even bother and just give every class M4/16 and be done with it.

even in real life there's more then 4 different units in a section/squad.

OH YEAH.. Here you go Anaron.. Karkand is RETURNING and it will be fully remastered into Frostbite 2. So will some weapons.

YOOOHOOOO!!!

CVG spotted the ad, which advertises the Karkand map pack, which looks to contain maps and guns from Battlefield 2, remastered for Battlefield 3 and the Frostbite 2 engine. The blurb on the ad says “The themed expansion pack features four legendary maps from Battlefield 2 boldly re-imagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals, completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements/trophies, and more.”

BF2 had 7.

So looks like we'll see a return of medics with LMG's, and there was you slating someone about not knowing things from BF2

2142 had 4 classes and didn't have medics with LMG's.

People saying the game is going to suck purely based on the number of classes are being wildly speculative. Even if we do see the medic class with an lmg return it doesn't mean they haven't tried to balance it properly (I.E. Big cooldown on defibs, headshots permakill like in bf2)

There is a bf2142 patch coming out this month. And bf2142 is one of the best BF games IMO.

I saw that earlier, Boz. :p It's nice that they're remastering the classics from Battlefield 2. I'm so tempted to pre-order it but I'm tight on cash. I really hope they extend the limited edition up to release day (which is what they did for Bad Company 2). That way, a lot of people will have the maps and won't have to wait a month after release to buy it.

As for the Game Informer scans, those shots look amazing. I can't wait to see better screenshots of the lighting and videos to see the improved animations.

Battlefield 3 PC will handle 40 more players than on consoles. New features revealed.

Another slew of new Battlefield info has landed. PC will be the lead platform for the DICE?s upcoming FPS. More level locations have been revealed, and a co-op mode has been confirmed. There will also be character customisation and more unlocks than Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Read on for more details, including news on a kill cam, mod support and comparisons to the console versions of the game.

The new details were spilled in Game Informer, in which DICE said that they consider the PC version to be the lead version of the game. The 64-man multiplayer that we?ll be enjoying when the game?s released in Autumn will be shrunk to 24 players on consoles. DICE say that multiplayer will contain four classes, and there will be more unlocks than there were in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. There will also be a degree of character customisation for players, though DICE are cautious about letting items get too outlandish.

?How do you personalise a uniform? Giving the pink rabbit hat to someone would make it fun, but if you?re running around and you don?t know what you?re shooting at, you don?t take the professional gaming seriously in my book. There?s a challenge between personalising and keeping it uniform. We will do more in that area, making sure that you can get your character to be more personalised both in a visual way and more specifically in the way you gear up. We did a good job I would argue with Bad Company 2 with specialisations, different scopes and different weapons ? you can kind of find your way of playing the game.

Battlefield 3 will feature a kill cam, similar to Call of Duty?s, and players will be able to turn it off. DICE are also looking into implementing some form of the theatre mode for the game. If they do, expect plenty of videos of mass destruction. The Frostbite 2 engine will allow for complete destructibility. To make battles feel more authentic, DICE have even recorded their own weapon and vehicle sounds at different distances, so the distant boom of an RPG slamming into a tank two miles away will sound just right. The new animation system has been borrowed from EA sports games to allow for adaptive movement, cutting out instances of characters gliding in and out of locked postures.

Sulaymaniyah and Iraqi Kurdistan have been confirmed as locations in the game, joining Tehran, Paris and New York. There will be a full single player campaign which will be completely original, so don?t expect any characters from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to return. It?s not yet known whether the co-op campaign will be a separate campaign.

Though the PC is the lead version of the game, there won?t be any support for modding on release. DICE say that the Frostbite 2 engine is complex and the tools would have to be dumbed down for general use. This doesn?t rule out a release of some form of mod tools in future.

The game?s due out in Autumn, check out our other news posts for everything we know so far about Battlefield 3, or head over to the official Battlefield 3 site.

Also a CoOp Mode has been confirmed for the SP.

Sorry if this is a rehash of info, just got to work so not much time to read everything else.

    • I use it by choice but only for specific tasks that I have forgotten and it's quicker to ask then spend time wasted finding a decent answer on Google or coding a certain language. I prefer to use it. I do think that as it gets integrated into everything, when we eventually fully rely on it, I'm talking new gens not older gens like me, that we won't think for ourselves, I mean we will become lazy thinkers, lazy logical answer to problem which will go badly. But if we don't become fully dependant, we might be OK but I don't think personally we are going to be OK, not for the newer generations. Unless they advance in that space to the next level of intelligence where it can work out its own problems and create ideas for itself.

    • O&O ShutUp10 3.1.1104 by Razvan Serea O&O ShutUp10 offers a simple yet effective way to take control of your Windows privacy. It provides access to almost 50 privacy-related tweaks, most of them hidden or not easily accessible to the average computer users. Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10/11 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated. Using ShutUp10 you can easily disable Windows Defender, turn off telemetry, disable peer-to-peer updates, turn off Wi-Fi Sense, disable automatic Windows updates, turn off and reset Cortana and more. ShutUp10 allows you to create a System Restore point before you apply any changes, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems. O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days! O&O ShutUp10 Free and Premium The latest version brings O&O ShutUp10 Premium, expanding the app’s long-standing privacy controls with automatic enforcement of user-defined settings. Instead of manually rechecking options after every Windows update, users can set their preferred privacy configuration once—or apply recommended settings in a single click—and the tool continuously monitors them in the background. If Windows 10 or 11 re-enables disabled features or introduces new data collection paths, Premium restores the chosen settings automatically without user intervention. The free version remains available and fully functional for manual adjustments, offering the same core privacy controls for Windows. However, the Premium tier is aimed at users who want long-term, hands-off protection, adding automatic reapplication after updates, ongoing monitoring, and optional notifications to ensure privacy settings remain consistent over time.
