Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting an open beta on Nintendo Switch in August

Back at E3, Nintendo announced, through a brief video showcase, that the popular Dragon Ball FighterZ was coming to its hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch. Though a specific release date wasn't given at the time, it was later announced that the game would be released on September 28.

Now, Bandai Namco has announced through a post on Twitter that eager fans will get to try the game in an open beta test starting sometime in August. A similar testing period had previously been announced for Japan, featuring a 3v3 local multiplayer mode, but it's currently unclear if the same applies to the rest of the world.

The tweet also mentions new local multiplayer modes for the Nintendo Switch version when it launches in September. Players will be able to partake in 1v1 and 2v2 matches as well as in a 6-player Party Match mode through local multiplayer rather than online.

Bandai Namco also recently revealed Base Goku and Vegeta as upcoming DLC characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ, and they'll be arriving on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC in early August. Presumably, the Nintendo Switch release will have them available by the time the game launches.
