Nintendo teases sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Today's Direct had a few surprise announcements, but Nintendo saved what might be the most unexpected and exciting one until the end of the presentation. With a very short teaser video, the company confirmed that a sequel to the acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now in development.

Nintendo did not reveal any specific details, but the trailer featured a few interesting tidbits. Link and Zelda, the latter of which has a new haircut, are seen riding some sort of animal and exploring a dark cave of some sort, and magical powers are seen all around. Eventually, the trailer shows what seems to be a skeletal version of Ganondorf, the main antagonist of the franchise. The evil character seems to be held down by a mystical-looking hand, but that looks to change during the game.

The teaser ends with a view of Hyrule, similar to how it was seen in Breath of the Wild, with Hyrule Castle rising from the ground for unknown reasons.

Naturally, this is a very early teaser on Nintendo's part, and with the first game being just over two years old, there's no telling when the sequel will be available to the public. Zelda fans can only wait for the company to share more details in the future.
