Electronic Arts has finally announced it will add an offline single player mode for its urban simulation game SimCity, nearly a year after it suffered from a poor launch due to its online requirements
A new survey sent to current SimCity players seems to strongly hint that the urban simulation game may finally get an official offline mode, after EA said that such a mode was not possible.
Electronic Arts has announced that The Sims 4, the latest game in the long running people simulation series, is in the works at its Maxis studio and will be released for the PC and Mac in 2014.
EA Maxis General Manager Lucy Bradshaw seems to nix the idea that the developer will put in a single player experience in SimCity, saying, "In many ways, we built an MMO."
An unnamed source who claims to work at Maxis on SimCity has cast doubt on the developer's claims that putting in an offline mode for the new city simulation game is not possible.
EA has posted a new video of SimCity, which shows a cool 9 minutes of in-game strategy footage from an unfinished build of the game. The engine is looking sharp, but is it too simple?
