Microsoft adds five games to Xbox One Backward Compatibility

Today, Microsoft added five more titles to the list of Xbox 360 games that are backward compatible with the Xbox One. Well, it"s more like four and a half, as Of Orcs and Men is only available in select regions, and the US and UK don"t seem to be among them.

The company added three games on Tuesday, so the total of eight additions this week is quite a refreshing change. Last week only saw two new games, as did the week before. In fact, this is the first time that more than two games were added to the list since the week of August 2.

Here"s what"s new to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today:

Arkanoid Live ($9.99)

The classic ARKANOID comes back to life in XBLA! Destroy every block on screen by bouncing an Energy Ball against them with your Vaus!

Bayonetta ($19.99)

From the creative geniuses behind Devil May Cry and Resident Evil comes Bayonetta™, a game of 100% pure, unadulterated, climatic action. With powers far beyond the comprehension of mere mortals, our heroine Bayonetta fights countless enemies, evil forces and giant foes in brutal yet graceful ways.

de Blob 2 ($19.99)

Blob"s origins are mysterious, but he rolled up at the right place and the right time to be the hero that the Color Underground was looking for. Music surrounds him and color energy flows through him; with his touch Blob can literally make the world a better place. Blob represents individuality and determination. Blob is good hearted but lazy. He is often late, but he always comes through.

QIX++ ($9.99)

Includes sleek graphics and cool sound effects! Reloaded with new features and a multiplayer mode!

Of Orcs and Men (unknown)

You have been appointed to fulfill an extremely dangerous mission, deep in enemy territory: to kill one man... the Emperor himself. Lead the revolution of the Orcs and Goblins!

Note that we"re unable to load the listing for Of Orcs and Men, so the image and description is from Steam. The link will take you to the Xbox Store, and if the game is available in your region, it should work.

Backward compatible Xbox games are always a great way to get new content on the cheap, but don"t forget about Games with Gold, which is a program that gives Xbox Live Gold members four free games a month. The only catch is that you have to claim them within the specified dates.

You still have a week to grab WWE 2K16 (Xbox One), which was part of last month"s Games with Gold. From this month, you can get Forza Horizon (Xbox 360) until the 15th and Earthlock: Festival of Magic (Xbox One) until the end of the month. Beginning on the 16th, you"ll be eligible to claim Assassin"s Creed Chronicles: China (Xbox One) and Mirror"s Edge (Xbox 360).
