Nokia parent company announces hybrid feature phone, the HMD Touch 4G

While many of us are looking for the latest and greatest technology when it comes to smartphones, there is a massive market that still exists for budget phones, especially in developing countries. Although smartphone makers do have a presence in this space, the demand is often fulfilled by smaller OEMs like HMD, which, you may recall, is Nokia"s parent company.

HMD has unveiled the HMD Touch 4G, which is being marketed as a hybrid phone that contains some smart features on a touch display. It"s not a full smartphone, but it does give access to browser-based versions of apps through a Cloud Phone Service, along with video and voice calls through the Express Chat app. But if you want to use the latter, do keep in mind that the people you chat with will obviously need the app too. It"s not the most well-known app out there, but it is available for Android and iOS as well.

The HMD Touch 4G is insistent on being in the middle of a feature phone and a smartphone, claiming that it is "the next step in phone evolution". As the name suggests, it supports both 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, and hosts a nifty physical Quick-Call button that you can also hold to record a voice message.

In terms of other specifications, the HMD Touch 4G boasts 64MB of RAM with 128MB built-in storage. It sports a 3.2-inch QVGA display, a 0.3MP front camera, and a 2MP rear shooter with LED flash too. It is powered by the RTOS Touch operating system, along with a 1,950mAh battery that can be charged through a USB-C cable. The HMD Touch 4G is now being sold in India for ₹3,999 ($45), which is discounted from the usual retail price of ₹4,999 ($56). You can grab it right now from HMD"s website here.
