Rocket League will be celebrating the summer by bringing back the 80s. Psyonix today announced the Radical Summer event that will celebrate "Blockbusters, Culture, and Television" of the 1980s, featuring new cosmetic items, Battle-Cars, game modes, and more.

There will be a host of new items players can earn as the 9-week long event progresses, all from these iconic classic franchises:

  • Ghostbusters
  • Knight Rider
  • Back to the Future
  • E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
  • The Goonies
  • Karate Kid

As for premium DLC, Psyonix is introducing two new Battle-Cars through car packs, them being K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider and ECTO-1 from Ghost Busters. While the Knight Industries Two Thousand doesn"t have an exact release date, coming later during the event, the Ecto-1 will be available for purchase on June 10 for $1.99.

Also, three new limited-time game modes are being introduced as the three phases of the event come and go. From June 10 through July 1 will be the Blockbusters phase, where the Ghost Hunt mode will become active, charging players with trapping a "ghostly ball" on the opponent"s side of the field using proton stream power-ups.

Then from July 1 till 22, during the Culture phase, the Spike Rush mode will become available, giving players the ability to use the Spike power-up - from Rumble - at will. And finally, Television phase crops up from July 22 until August 12, bringing with it the Beach Ball mode, which obviously features a massive beach ball, along with low gravity and curveball mutators.
