Rockstar isn"t finished with new announcements this month. While it just delayed the new Grand Theft Auto, the studio is bringing one of its most popular games, Red Dead Redemption, to modern consoles and new platforms soon. The release follows the PC version that landed a year ago, and some of those enhancements are in the new console editions too.
Starting December 2, Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Outside of consoles, Rockstar is also bringing the title to compatible iOS and Android devices on the same day, with Netflix subscribers getting the title on mobile for no extra cost.
"Step into the events immediately following the blockbuster Red Dead Redemption 2, in the critically acclaimed tale of John Marston’s journey to bury his blood-stained past," said the company in the announcement, describing the experiences. "In its zombie-horror companion Undead Nightmare, fight to find a cure for the zombie plague that has overrun the frontier."
Rockstar has partnered with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games for developing this enhanced version of the 2010 classic.
Red Dead Redemption will run at 60 FPS with enhanced image quality, HDR support, and up to 4K resolution on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. On the Switch 2, the game will be running at 60FPS utilizing DLSS, while HDR and mouse controls are also confirmed.
There is also some good news here for owners of the original game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. They are all receiving free upgrades to the newer console versions across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Any game progression these players might have will also be transferred.
At the same time, Red Dead Redemption is also entering the GTA+ Games Library and the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog starting on December 2.
