Xbox Cloud Gaming allows you to play Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One games on your mobile devices and PC. Ever since the feature was announced, gamers have been asking for the ability to play these games on consoles — through the cloud — in order to save valuable hard drive space. In June 2021, Microsoft announced it would introduce the feature soon, and today, we got a tentative launch date.
During Microsoft"s gamescom media briefing, the company revealed that Xbox Cloud Gaming would be coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One in Holiday 2021. This update will allow Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to experience hundreds of games with the click of a button, without the need to install them.
Getting your hands on an Xbox Series X, and to some degree, an Xbox Series S, is still quite difficult. If you find yourself still with an Xbox One or Xbox One X in a few months, you"ll be able to play titles like The Medium and Microsoft Flight Simulator on last-generation consoles through the cloud. The games will also support up to 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. However, the quality may vary depending on the speed of your internet connection.
When the update rolls out, be on the lookout for a small cloud icon on the right of many games. Those titles support Xbox Cloud Gaming and you"ll be able to instantly play them with the click of a button. We"ll update you as soon as we receive a concrete release date for the feature. Microsoft added that it"ll be testing Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One this fall for Xbox Insiders.
