"

In recent years, China and Russia have strengthened security cooperation, the two sides pledged to increase the number of joint exercises in 2016. The naval exercises in the East Sea China-Russia in September the next will be mark the joint naval exercises 7th since 2005. in particular, joint exercises at sea titled "joint sea" (sea) took place every year, starting from 2012 . China itself has also used the exercises to broadcast political signal. Notably, China held naval exercises in the East Sea-fire before and after the Court of Arbitration in The Hague UNCLOS gives major legal victory Philippines in the South China Sea lawsuit, challenging claims greedy irrational right of Beijing to the East Sea. The judgment of the Court of Arbitration in The Hague has been launched on 07.12.2016.

For Russia, this exercise is a bit awkward. Russian Federation has close defense ties with Vietnam. Although security has deep ties with China, Russia has tried to keep neutral in the South China Sea issues, even showing some signs of discomfort with the Chinese tried to mobilize support for Russia this problem.

Russia is providing two destroyers and six submarines for Vietnam. The modern warship is sure to be used to protect waters tank which Vietnam claims sovereignty in the East Sea.

Hardly modern, it's a A 36 year old destroyer.

There are 2 missiles designated SS-N-22 Sunburn; one an old conventional missile and another the ramjet powered P-270 Moskit from the early 1980's (designed ~1978). Highly susceptible to modern defensive systems.

Clearly there for show, not go. Showing the flag.
