Install Android Oreo on the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ (Exynos)

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, I tried this by following the instructions and it worked. I am now on (official) Android Oreo :D

https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-android-oreo-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s8-s8-exynos

Please do read and follow the instructions closely, with the last part of the upgrade, where the update.zip file is being used (from SD card in my case) it does show a mount error and appears to "freeze" on some steps, but just wait, or press "volume down" to see the progress.

Other things of note. My phone was not reset, kept all data and apps and it all took less than half an hour from start to finish.

i beg to differ, it's a pain to upgrade apple devices if you jailbreak :p

A similar process can install Oreo on the S7 and S7 edge (the only thing "foreign" is that it uses AT&T-branded S7 firmware) - however, it works just fine on non-ATT S7  and S7 edge handsets on non-ATT carriers (my own S7 is one such).
