After Hurricane Maria struck the island, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz took a bizarre approach and began publicly attacking President Trump. The media loved it, reporting on every imaginable criticism that Cruz had of Trump’s response to the hurricane. On one occasion, she wore a “nasty woman” on CNN. Ironically, the reason Cruz was able to spend so much time on television it because it was she who was doing nothing. Guaynabo Mayor Angel Perez Otero said that in several meetings with FBI about the recovery efforts Cruz has been absent. Otero’s praise of Trump, who signed a $36.5 billion aid package for the island, didn’t get much coverage, either. Still, for months, Cruz accused the U.S. of turning its back on Puerto Rico. But the problem isn’t a lack of aid, it’s how that aid is being distributed. According to the Epoch Times, “Corruption in Puerto Rico may have been the cause of U.S. relief supplies not reaching those in need following Hurricane Maria in September 2017.” A local news record in El Vocero de Puerto Rico said that the FBI is starting an investigation into the corruption, which involves the administration of Cruz. It all began on February 21st, when Yadira Molina, a former procurement director, filed a lawsuit stating that she faced punishment when reporting illegal activities (corruption) to her local comptroller. We have a Trump wining and complaining thread already and this really has nothing/little to do with Trump. This is about the mayor and her administration. With that said, this is going to look bad on the Mayor if true and hope she is held accountable and anyone else associated with it. All she did was complain about needing more and more aid and support and now it may be that she was the cause of support not getting where it was needed. She is more interested in traveling around and accepting awards while promoting her career. If she is found guilty here, I am sure those awards will be revoked. She forgot to mention to the liberal media that she did not pay the truckers union to deliver all the food, so it end up sitting in the warehouse... but she sure had time and money to order all the hats and t-shirts saying "We are dying" and "Nasty" and get personal photographers to follow her around and take photos of her "saving" people, like the guy in the canoe who obviously is dry and does not need saving... Canoe pic was just for publicity and attention. Looks staged. And I said last year when she was complaining about aid that there were tons of containers full of it but they had no way to get it to the people. Seems a lot of aid was there and was miss handled. macrosslover Posted June 18, 2018 Share Posted June 18, 2018 Anybody with any prior knowledge will know that Puerto Rico had corruption, management, and infrastructure problems long before Maria struck. The whole argument that the mainland wasn't doing enough to help them is ridiculous. We could have thrown $1 trillion dollars at the problem and it still would have taken the same amount of time because they simply didn't have the infrastructure in place. There's a reason so many of their young people have been steadily leaving the island for the years preceding this hurricane and it has nothing to do with external issues and all to do with their internal problems. However, they're are not alone in their corruption, it just got so blatant and stupid. What happened in Puerto Rico is decades of people not caring and doing enough to stop the corruption. Even people heavily against Trump aren't really blaming him for Puerto Rico, as there was a lot of underlying issues that existed previously. If this tweet holds any truth to it, that's even more embarrassing, yet unsurprising of our media today.
