What's interesting is some pages on their site still reference version 4.7. Some even still reference Bonjour as the old name, Rendezvous. Apple's normally more perfecting that that...

ah, sweet. Does the Windows version also sync contacts? If so, I can dump that app I've written

It says in the documentation that it requires OS X 10.4 for syncing, so I'd lean to the "no" side of the fence.

Not yet. I just downloaded it. You don't have to enter your email address anymore. Just uncheck the two boxes and click download.

Was there an option for playing videos in a new window or full screen in 4.7? I haven't used iTunes on my Mac in a while.

Now all they have to do is bring out Quicktime 7 for windows

Yes, but they have to delay it a while to make Mac users feel special. Either that or they are actually trying to make this version a decent media player... nah, scratch that, I'll stick with my first guess.

Quicktime is great for streaming videos and the occasional .mov file, but is horrendous for anything else (on Windows).

As the iTunes uses the Safari engine (even in Windows) to browse the iTMS, I wonder if they have updated it to the Safari 2 engine.

EDIT: iTMS seems much faster, so I assume they have done.

So, QuickTime 6.5.2 is bundled with this release? No VBR? If so then I guess iTunes 5 is around the corner. This was just released probably to disable hacks. All the fuss for nothing.
