This patch removes the grey Panel background & the "Add Gadgets" button from Windows Sidebar. (32-bit only)

Original: SBoriginal.png Patched: SBpatched.png Alternate: SBalternate.png

It also removes the Close, Config & the Gripper buttons that appear when you hover over the Gadgets > SBGadget.png

You can still access these functions in the right click menu from the Sidebar & Gadgets.

Copy sidebar.exe into the folder where you extracted the files.

Run Patch.bat or PatchNA.bat (alternate version, based on the System Tray Notification Arrow).

Close Windows Sidebar.

Take Ownership & get permission to replace the original sidebar.exe:

Right click on sidebar.exe and then click Properties.

Click the Security tab, click Advanced, click on the Owner tab and click on Edit.

In the Name list, click your user name, or click the Administrators group if you are logged in as Administrator & click Apply.

Go back to sidebar.exe Properties, click the Security tab and click on Edit.

Click your user name (or click the Administrators group), check Full Controll -> Allow and click on Apply.

Rename the original sidebar.exe to sidebar.bak and copy the patched exe into the folder.

Start Windows Sidebar.

Forgot to create a backup? -> Run Restore.bat to restore the default background & buttons.
