BitTorrent is a P2P system that makes transfering large files (or groups of files) amongst a large group of people easy, fast and efficient. The BitTorrent network is impressive mostly for the speed and reliability with which you get files that have been recently released. As long as a .torrent file has enough people sharing then you can be assured that it will start quickly and maintain a good download speed.
Always remember to leave your BitTorrent client open to help distribute the files!

i don't like to complain but...

when are we going to have a full version, its been 3 months straight that we've had updates, it makes it hard to put on pc that doesn't have it. download full then update, then update, then update. (you see where im going with it)

other than that i think its a great app

@sonicjosh, as i've mentioned elsewhere, we plan on upgrading the autopatcher core to v5.6 next month, so next month will be full & lite only, everyone will have to replace there existing copies of v5.1 with a new 5.6 full/lite release.

@acetken, theres really not much i can do... how do you customise the release? selections / adding modules / removing modules ? surely whatever your doing can't be that much of a pain really can it...?

the reason we have months of just update releases, as i've said many many times before, is a) time to upload everything (see below), and b) many people will download full/lite releases for no good reason when they could easily be using update releases, which wastes a huge amount of bandwidth kindly donated to us by our mirrors.

@dev, no, it doesnt take a day just for update releases, damn that would be a slow connection lol. it takes me just a few hours to upload 3x update releases and 3x translation packs every month (this month 120MB @30KBps, which should take around 1hour, but it never uses its full potential, and perhaps there were overheads transmitting via ftp, and maybe i left my bit-torrent cliet running).

it takes around a full day to upload 3x full releases + 3x lite + 3x update + 3x translation pack, totaling around 1800MB last month again at 30KBps, which should take 17hours total if it managed to go at full potential constantly and not including ftp overheads, so probably more likely to be the full 24hours.

i don't like to complain but...

Oh noes, you have to download 4 files instead of 1.

Just download and burn to a CDRW

Hi all,

use it in an automatic installation but i don't want to install defender,ie7 and wga!

But all 3 will be installed and I don't know why.

foldertree:

install.cmd
winXP.ini
autopatcher\ (complete autopatcher content)

install.cmd

cd autopatcher
start /wait Autopatcher.exe /defaults:..\Winxp.ini /noeula /nochecks /noreboot /nonags /nolog /unattend:t2

thats out of my winxp.ini file

...
- Windows Defender v1.1.1593.0
- Windows Genuine Advantage (KB892130)
- Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP SP2
...

can someone help me?

OK, I complained about this before, I think it's ridiculous that a full version has not released since November, enough patches and updates have been released since then to justify a full update. Carrying around 4 CDs so I can update a box is a bit ridiculous. There are enough mirrors and torrent seeds available that taxing someones bandwidth isn't a big deal. The difference between downloading a 80Mb and 300+Mb file is not a big deal to most of us either, broadband is widely available and if your complaining that you don't have broadband and need smaller downloads, then just use Windows Update or find someone who does...

an unhappy and soon to be former Autopatcher user....

    • Ladybird Browser is no longer accepting outside contributions thanks to AI by David Uzondu The Ladybird Browser Project has announced it will no longer accept public pull requests and will limit changes to those made by its maintainers as it works towards its first alpha release. According to Ladybird's creator Andreas Kling, this is "not a change we make lightly," but the rapid shift in AI capabilities forced their hand. Previously, a massive PR implied that the person behind it put a lot of care into the code and is ready to "answer for the consequences." Now with AI, anyone can generate a PR without even understanding the bug fix or feature they want merged. The blog post goes on to say that the team is closing all open public pull requests immediately, and that maintainers will not treat external forks as a review queue for upstream Ladybird. Instead, the team wants outside contributors to focus on reporting bugs and running tests. Kling started Ladybird back in 2019 as LibHTML, a simple HTML viewer for his hobby operating system, SerenityOS, but by September 2022, it had turned into a full-fledged browser project. What sets Ladybird apart from the likes of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Mozilla Firefox is its totally independent engine, which does not rely on pre-existing codebases. The project maintains a strict policy against default search engine deals or user data monetization, keeping development funded entirely by donations and sponsorships. Generative AI is forcing open source project maintainers to rethink how they handle public code contributions (and the whole open-source thing in general). One month ago, a leak about the National Health Service (NHS) suggested the organization was planning to take all of its public repositories private ahead of a May 11 deadline, thanks to Mythos (an AI model that Anthropic believes is too dangerous to be released to the public) and its ability to find and write exploits for zero-day vulnerabilities. Thankfully, the Government Digital Service (GDS) issued a counter-report titled "AI, open code and vulnerability risk in the public sector" that stopped the shutdown by pointing out that hiding code does not improve security.

    • I like the show more options. The only problem with it is that it's not always in a consistent spot in the menu. If the copy/paste/cut, happens to show on top, then more option is the last in the menu. But if copy/paste/cut happens to show on the bottom, then more options is before the copy/paste/cut. But I do like the more options because it hides the stuff that I rarely use. But I would like to choose what it is or isn't hiding. That would make it better.
    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
