IE 8 breaks top of forums page

I know its just started beta but being a technology site neowin is going to get hit with alot of beta users and its always good to know if something has broken neowin.......

(it also seems to break alot of the functionality of the forums like adding attachments etc)

It would be interesting to know if this is cuased by the way neowin is coded or the way IE8 renders pages......

I don't know why MS likes to waste 'space'..they must think 'Vista' and assumes everyone also has a big screen monitor...I liked being about to move the 'favorites' bar on the same line as 'Menu Bar'...so for now I think its too thick n wide.

Most of the problems, I believe, are caused by sites that detect IE and do something special to make up for non-standard behavior in old browsers. If they simply update their check to determine if the IE version is less than 8, and only then do that special behavior, it should improve things a lot.

Anyway, I'm really glad the beta is out to the public so that hopefully these things will start getting fixed. It's been annoying to have to run in IE7 emulation mode to read Neowin :)

or you could just press the 'emulator IE7' button in IE8 LOL, but th eonly issue i had was with quick reply and the attachments

yeah heheh im looking at what IE8 has done to the 'latest forum activity' section and the 'forums' button... then i spotted the 'emulate ie7' button

Based on the fact Neowin works fine in all the other standards compliant browsers, I'd blame this one on IE8, lets wait and see what happens later in the release cycle before we start making changes.

Yes it does.. But IE8 literally JUST came out.. and time will be needed to sort out these problems. Also, it's a BETA

I wonder if we can get the Web Slices feature on the Latest Forum Activity section and may be for individual subforums (games hangout and so on). That would be handy. :)
