VMWare support for multiple monitors?

Question

I'm running a couple of different OSes in VMWare Player, including Windows 7, but I have only got one monitor. I tryed setting the number of monitors to 2 in the settings for the VM, but it still only displays on one monitor. I'd like to run on both the laptop's native screen and the external monitor attached, which is how I am running Windows normally.

Is this possible? What am I missing, if it is possible?

Thanks...

Yes you would have to go to the video settings for the virtual display adapter within vmware. vmware player 3 supports this.

If you have VMware tools installed in the guest, and auto-resize is on, it will automatically span across the two monitors. It just tells the guest that the resolution of the monitor is really wide, so the guest thinks it has one monitor.
