I stopped watching this early in season 2 because I read DVD boxed set synopsis's that mentioned too much boring family drama.

 

I watched the last 3 episodes of this season though, and quite enjoyed them.

 

It was a good finale, Dexter was a bit silly, Burn Notice was almost as good a finale as Breaking Bad, not quite.

Agreed, loved Walt and Skyler with the little dividing wall in between them which masked Walt at first. Very clever

That part was brilliant. Did you notice the reflection of Skyler's face on the microwave?

 

Great ending and glad Jesse made it out alive.

Agreed. The little nod they gave each other was great. And seeing Jesse smile for once in a long time made the show seem less depressing.

 

Loved the finale.

 

I was worried because alot of the shows i've been watching lately ended horribly (Dexter for example).

 

Glad Breaking bad did it right :D

I've heard nothing but bad things about the series finale for Dexter. I don't watch that show but I'd be disappointed if it ended as poorly as everyone says it did.

The last 3 episodes would have been much better if you watched the entire series. I've watched it over the course of 3 weeks and some parts seemed very boring to me but I endured.

Superb ending - easily one of the best episodes. The ending felt authentic and resolved everything that needed to be, unlike that of Dexter which was cheap and inconsistent with the characters.

I felt they closed Breaking Bad off in a manner fitting the characters , watching jesse

slowly strangle the life out of todd

was particularly satisfying as was

Walt's awesome auto-firing M-60

 

A decent ending to a great show

The perfect ending to an absolutely incredible show!

 

I was concerned that tying-up all of the loose ends in 60 minutes would result in a rushed ending.

However, the pacing of this episode was excellent.

 

I'm just going to throw this question out there: is 'Breaking Bad' the best show in TV history?

"best show" will always be difficult to measure "officially" because what are you going by?  awards? # of viewers? dvd/bluray sales?  I can certainly say that IMO it is one of the best written shows.  I'm def sad its over as I am running out of "good tv" to watch.  2 more weeks until The Walking Dead at least!

As an afterthought I also felt it was fitting that in the end Walt let go of his anger and showed Jesse one last act of mercy, perhaps in the realisation it was partially his fault that Jesse got dragged down so badly.

Brilliant, the perfect ending. Really enjoyed it and was great to get everything wrapped up in 60 minutes.

I think there's a huge reason for that. This show is a shining example of why the big four networks simply don't work for serialized drama. They want these huge, long, drawn out seasons of 20-24 episodes and that works great for weekly non-serialized dramas that don't depend on a coherent and cohesive storyline.

 

Lost suffered from the fact that they had too many episodes and not enough story to fill all of them up, so they started creating storylines that didn't matter and ultimately either got dropped and/or forgotten about.

 

Breaking Bad didn't suffer from this and in fact because of only 5 seasons, they thrived on shorter seasons and being able to go out on their own. And with a major bang!

 

When the episode first started and we were meant to assume Walt was going after the Schwartzs, I thought, "wow, how predictable." I was actually starting to think it was going to be a disappointingly predictable ending. And for the most part it was, but it ended up not in the way I thought it was going to be. Outside of Walt giving the Schwartzs the money for Walt Jr, everything that happened wasn't really shocking. It did surprise me to hear Walt admit he had done everything for himself, which made me happy he finally admitted that, but still not blow away shocking.

 

The two best scenes: (1) "If we're gonna go that way, you're gonna need a bigger knife" & (2) the phone call with Lydia at the end, where she's realizing it isn't Todd who answered the phone; all alone and now coming to the realization that she's been poisoned.

 

The poison scene was so predictable, however, I do wonder, if she had made an actual deal with Walt, would he have saved her or continued anyway? It didn't seem to me like he was really interested in a deal, he just wanted to get close to Jake for partnering with Jesse.

 

It was a great ending, but nothing as explosive as I suppose I was hoping for. It also wasn't as emotional for me as what it seems to have been for so many. I was looking through my Twitter feed and people were saying they were balling their eyes out. Not sure if I missed the emotional part, but Lost definitely had way more emotional affect on me than this did.
