I still think the show should have had walt wake up in Malcolm in the middle.

Finally watched the finale and I'm so glad it went out like it did rather than the crap that was Dexter.

Ya Dexter made me want to Vomit.

All I have to say about the last season of Dexter is ....

This may have been mentioned in here before, but New Hampshire's state moto (seen on the license plate in season 5 episode 1) is "Live Free or Die". Jesse got to Live Free and Walt got to Die. Foreshadowing anyone?

After thinking about the finale for a while, I do think that the show didn't really go out being bold, it was safe exit, if that makes sense. They wrapped it up maybe it a bit too nicely?

The New Hampshire thing could be interpreted a few ways, generally the choice of Walt staying in / coming back to New Mexico, or being in NH.  If he stays, he and his family may die -- if he lives, they can live free of Heisenberg.  Walt coming back sealed his death quickly (instead of months from now, living "free" from the DEA / FBI in NH).  Or sort of as you said, Jesse gets to live free (of the Nazis, and of Heisenberg), or he would've died in captivity.

I'm sure it meant something, but the Sopranos did it first :p

I'm glad it didn't go too over the top, but i'm slightly disappointed by Walt's death it could have been a little more dramatic, it was too random, and sudden.. but it was also beautifully done in that he died where it all started, in a meth lab. and even though he became the villian he was still a character you felt emotion for and deep down was a good guy, so to give him a horrible death and to leave it at that wouldn't have been a very nice way to end the show.

Who else besides me giggled and clapped after that scene and then backed it up, turned the surround sound up louder and watched it all over again.

I screamed a loud "YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!" that had the rest of the family wondering what the hell was going on

Rewatching the Finale once again, just one thing annoyed me though. Walt spiking Lydia's tea with Ricin. To me it was just a faster way to get rid of it story wise, but he never actually spiked it. I mean, if he did, how would the Stevia package be sealed again? Heck, if the package was a little bit open, would she notice all the sugar/ricin on the table? I mean she was really flinging it around before she actually got her tea.

Say if Walt did manage that to re-seal the package, how would he know Lydia would sit at the exact same table? Or maybe someone else would go to that table before Lydia got there?

Otherwise, it was a perfect ending. That was the only part that annoyed me.

There were quite a few more things like that. How did he know the nazis wouldn't check his truck? How did he know all of them would be in or in front of the room? What if they went in a house that had a halway facing the car so there were double walls between the car and the gang? There were plenty of things you could pick apart, and I think that after some time passes and people objectively look at the show again it will be more obvious (just like some other flaws seasons 4 and 5 generally suffered from and most people overlook), but personally, it worked just well enough for me to suspend my disbelief. I mean, it wasn't insultingly stupid and unrealistic like some of the stuff in the last episode of Dexter, so I let it slide.

Walt has been to see them a few times before, so he would have know the security precautions they usually take, where they would meet and the distribution of the gang.

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.
