UK student wins Microsoft Excel World Championship

Rebecca Rickwood,15, was one out of the 228,000 competitors from 57 countries, beating 78 students in the final round, at the 2011 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office in San Diego, California.

To qualify for the world championship, they had to take qualifying exam which she took back to October, then at the end of June she received a phone call saying that she had the best score in the UK, and that she was coming to San Diego for the world championship.

They were asked to complete a timed test where they had to build a spreadsheet to present a set of data.

"It's amazing. I didn't think I'd win it", she said.

Rebecca, a GCSE student at Sawtry Community College in Cambridgeshire, is a specialist maths and computing school runs extra-curricular classes for students in Microsoft Software.

Rebecca was presented with her $5000 prize for winning the world championship.

What can se do with excel that made her win? I mean, what are those competitions about? She looks cute though.
