OK, silly question, but I'm in college, and the game's at home (hopefully), so I don't know. :p Does MW3 have an "online pass"? Hopefully not.

BTW, I had an Xbox Live message from a friend last night (which was probably a "message to all friends") simply saying... (major spoiler, unless you've been watching recent MW3 videos on YouTube, in which case, you've already seen it in the comments :p )

SOAP DIES IN MW3!!!!!!!!!!!

Git. Treating it like Harry Potter. :p

To be fair, in Madden they did re-use all the same coach models from Madden 2010, and some player models. Coach Tony Sparano is still a fat tub of lard in Madden 12, though, in real life now he has lost around 80lbs and is fairly thin.

But that is a different department in EA, and one where they have no competition thanks to the contract with the NFL, (which expires in 2012, I believe) and until that contract does expire, there won't be any competition in that market, and if they reach a new one, well, we are all stuck with the same Madden. :(

On the launch problems; yeah, it does suck, but I would rather a completely new game, and engine, graphics, textures, models, that is more or less 90-95% done and plays beautifully, to be tested on us at release to work out the tweaks, rather than a re-re-hash that is MW. Yes, it is pure laziness, especially when you do it for a third time in a row. I'm just wondering how they are even competing. I guess the name sells all.

Can't blame them. They sell more and more copies every year. Until they see a need to change, I don't think they really should push it harder than having a side project in the works for the next gen Call of Duty.

Yeah, it may blow up in their face like Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk but sucks to be them if it happens. Just gives another dev and series a chance at the top which would be great. Respawn Studios for one could hit the ground running like last time when EA let Medal of Honor slide and Call of Duty took the crown. Speaking of EA, what on earth are they going to do with MOH, BF and whatever Respawn do. Throw them all and one will hopefully stick.

Nope, no online pass which is nice.

What assets are they reusing? The only thing in the back to Karkand pack is that the maps *might* have the same layout and we don't even know if that's going to be true or not. Other than that the maps had to be completely remade for Frostbite 2 engine because Battlefield 2 was a completely different engine. That means new textures and everything else. And I don't know about anyone else, but I wasn't charged for that.

Just look at the ump-45 from MW2 and MW3. They are the same exact model. Same texture. Same mesh. Same sounds. That's lazy.

And I've never played a single sports game made by any company so I wouldn't know about that.

and them acting, looking and sounding completely different would make more sense to you when the game takes place right after another?

NHL has the same things, coaches are the same year after year and they don't change them. most of the players don't even look real yet. just generic faces. i guess that is lazy too. it's not pure lazyness. they have 16 new maps, new locations, added new ish to the engine iteration after iteration. they all do it, that is my point. ALL OF THEM. movies do it too. for sure, bf looks better, bf has better sound (has since bc2), but calling the game exactly the same or mostly the same just proves your popping out at the mouth without actually playing the game. if the game is such a re-hash and a redo it would have gone the way of guitar heroes and not have BETTER RATINGS then bf3 so far (well consoles anyways)

Check out those user scores...the ones that actually matter.

How long would a Digital Download take on a HS connection?

depends on your definition of high speed. i have a 50 mbps connection and it took me 20 minutes to download the game...

those are the ones you ignore... like spore or assassins creed games getting a 1 rating on sites like amazon because people didn't like the DRM (which yeah sucked) does not reflect on the game at all. plus those are always full of fanboys anyways.

Well, I hope they do keep making games. If it weren't for their success, we would not have competition, thus no BF3 (at its current state). ^_^

But, I can see this getting run into the ground, and probably soon. Both Activision and EA have a knack for that. Tony Hawk (Activision) started great but, we all see what happened there. The SKATE games (EA), were next, and I loved all of them. To be honest, I'm sad there was not a Skate 4, but what really can you do differently. EA stopped at a good point there, and decided not to milk it. (Or they weren't getting sales, I do not know the numbers.)

Honestly I do not care who wins the sales battle, if the MW series does, good, that means the competition will continue to step up and not slack. If they don't, well good, more money and a pat on the back for the other company to continue to do great. Or vice versa. No sense in saying I wouldn't play the next Call of Duty, if it were good, just like I am with BF3. Hell I still play MoHAA: Spearhead (The MP demo! mp_malta all day baby! :p). Competition is good, but this time around EA/Dice/BF has won my buck.

Not really, considering critics are full of **** 95% of the time. If a game has DRM which people don't agree with then yes, ignore the 1 rating. If there is no DRM present or anything outstanding to pick at then the rating is fair. It's not like BF3 got a perfect score either, but it's a hell of a lot better than MW3 on either console.

eh, each their own. i don't take user reviews seriously ever cause of ish like that. i respect why people would. but i would rather take a collection of pro reviews then a collection of randoms seriously. that and friends (and all my friends play CoD anyways...)

It is true, I haven't played it. But, also, my heart is not pumping at the trailers, and I barely make it through the ads. BF3, I was ecstatic when watching gameplay. As I said, I will try it, the single player, when I borrow it from a friend. I will probably watch him play MP, and might grab a round or two, but I do not think my view will change. If it does, you will be the first to know. ;)

and that's fair. i get why people don't like the game. my beef is people who talk **** about and haven't played it. you just look like an idiot/troll trying to talk **** because you can on the internet.

No, I actually and downloading it from Steam. I never have downloaded a game before from Seam. Just to lazy to go to Best But and get it.

oh that makes sense.

It's not like we're even picking at the gameplay. We're picking at obvious faults including the reuse of assets, which we clearly don't need to play the game to see.

It doesn't matter if the game takes place 2 days or 2 years after MW2, there's always room for improvement. If we all had the same mindset as you do we might as well be using models from a 10 year old game simply because it takes place during the same time period.

haven't played many EA sports games have you ;)

and yeah i get what you mean, thank god this is the last MW game cause i am done with this series/story line. i'm a sucker for their formula that they use. it's all run and gun, no real time for campers cause you'll get owned, i love it. works great. i like the perks and the leveling system and the game modes. i know tech wise it's far from the best, but IMO it's still the best MP game out there.

i basically look at this game like a sports game franchise now anyway. i by madden every year, fifa almost every and NHL for sure every year for 60 bucks and i definitely get my money out of all of them every year cause it's all me and my friends play.

Never played a single EA Sports game in my life, but if they do reuse the same models then I find that incredibly lazy and lame as well.

Is this really the last MW game? Is CoD done as a whole, or are they planning on rebooting the franchise? I respect the fact that you enjoy the game, because when it comes down to it that's all that matters. Personally though, I don't see any need to defend them because no matter what way you look at it, they cut corners and took the lazy way out several times with this game.

You know what I'm interested in? Some news from Respawn Entertainment...

i'm not really defending them, i'm just saying they all do it. The modern warfare story line is done. this is the last one, what is next who knows. nothing been announced for treyarch yet or what's IW is up to next.

and is respawn the MoH guys, cause if they are, i though rot for ruining one of my all time favourite series...

Respawn Entertainment is the original Infinity Ward. West, Zampella and all of the guys who followed them after what happened with Activision.

oh yeah, i forgot about those guys... i'm sure they'll do well considering they created MoH and Call of Duty.

Last MW game, yes. CoD won't be done as a whole though. They'll probably start something new, but nothing has been announced.

    • Microsoft Weekly: Surface Laptop Ultra, Windows 11 context menus, Build 2026 recap, and more by Taras Buria This week's news recap is here, with Microsoft announcing the new Surface Laptop Ultra, fresh chips from NVIDIA for Windows on ARM, a no-build week, fixes for Windows 11's context menus, gaming news, reviews, and more. Quick links: Windows 10 and 11 Windows Insider Program Updates are available Reviews are in Gaming news Great deals to check Windows 11 and Windows 10 Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. At Computex 2026, together with NVIDIA, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful laptop to date, powered by NVIDIA's RTX Spark processor. Details about this computer are currently scarce, as Microsoft has only revealed certain parts of its specs. So far, we know that the computer has a 15-inch mini-LED display, a rich set of ports, a powerful processor, and all-day battery life. It also comes with a new wallpaper, which you can already download here in full resolution. The Surface Laptop Studio is not the only NVIDIA-powered Surface, which Microsoft unveiled this week. At Build 2026, the company also debuted the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, an odd-shaped desktop with a 20-core NVIDIA Grace CPU and an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores with FP4 precision, connected via the NVIDIA NVLink-C2C chip-to-chip interconnect for high performance. According to Microsoft, it can run models with up to 120 billion parameters locally without relying on cloud GPU infrastructure. These two new Surface devices are likely to cost quite a lot, and for those who need a more affordable device, Microsoft is preparing the next-gen Qualcomm-powered Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. This week, details about these two devices leaked in plenty of detail. We published a closer look here, so if you want to know what Microsoft is cooking without enrolling in the Insider program and installing unstable builds, check it out. Speaking of new features, many users are very annoyed about the way Microsoft delivers them. Recently, a frustrated user shared their experience with gradual rollouts, and even Microsoft engineers admitted there is a flaw in the system that prevents new features from applying properly. One of those new features includes the ability to uninstall AI models in Windows 11 with a single click. Windows 11 is finally getting fixes for its slow context menus. Marcus Ash from Microsoft confirmed that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are going to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." According to Marcus, Microsoft will share more details soon. Windows Insider Program Windows 11 preview builds, released last week, are now available for download as standalone ISO files. These days, Microsoft regularly pushes new images, allowing users to clean-install its recent Windows 11 preview builds faster and easier. However, the front-facing USB Type-C is data-only, and there are some quirks with the computer's memory, so check out the full review. The AMD RX 9070 GRE has been released worldwide, and we published a benchmark review comparing this powerful graphics card to the RX 9070 XT, 7800 XT, the NVIDIA RTX 5070, and RTX 4070. It has solid, balanced performance, plenty of RAM, and low temperatures, but watch out for mediocre ray tracing performance and not the best efficiency. Also, we reviewed the Cuktech 10 Ultra, a compact, high-power charger with four ports and a big display full of various stats. This tiny charger can pull nearly 120W and spread that power according to each connected device's needs. It also comes with a high-quality 240W cable, three power modes, and retractable prongs. • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
