I can't get online at all on 360, I'm signed in to LIVE and everything but when I go to go online and choose a game mode it kicks me back saying "Communication with the Xbox LIVE servers has been interrupted". I've signed in and out of LIVE, restarted my console and my router several times now but the damn thing isn't having it. Anyone getting the same problem?

I'm online right now, no issues here. Reset your connection by Network settings in System Settings?

Just done that, it's still doing it. I don't know why it's doing it though, it was working fine an hour ago but now it just won't work at all...everything else is working fine, just not MW3.

Okay, I am really considering getting MW3 but I need some input from someone who has actually played the game.

How is the multiplayer compared to the one in Battlefield 3? Do you get a lot of unjustified deaths due to lag and bad spawns like you do in BF3?

Also, how's the graphics? Are they even comparable to the ones we've seen in games like Crysis 2, Battlefield 3 etc.?

Last, but not least: Would you recommend this game to a guy that has enjoyed Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 much?

Honestly, other than taking time away from one another, I do not understand why someone can not own both and enjoy both? They really do not compare and each has its own strengths and weaknesses and provide fun in a different manner, that is just my opinion though. I do not own MW3 but I will once my enjoyment in BF3 slows. Right now I just do not want to share my time between two games but I am confident MW3 will be fun.

hit detection is definitely better in mw3 (though to be fair, i have only played the 360 version of bf3 and i am comparing it to the PC version of MW3).

Graphics are good, but not great. It's far from ugly, but it's not powerhouse like crysis or bf3. it looks like an CoD game, i dunno how else to put it...

The game is more similar to cryis then BF in terms of gameplay. CoD has always been about balls to the wall, run and gun action. it's what it is. campers get owned in this game. they are all different games though...

That is a solid review, thanks. I have not played MW3 yet but I am far from disappointed with the hit detection in BF3 though. When you say better, do you feel BF3 is way off? Or just not as good?

I personally don't have a problem with hit detection in terms of missing or anything in BF3. What I do have a problem with is headshot hit detection. It sometimes doesn't register as a headshot, and a good chunk of the time, it is not instant-kill. Unless by realism, enemies are part of a zombie nation, a headshot is generally a one-shot kill. Especially when you aim for the dome. Other than that, the rest of the body is solid.

IMO BF has always sucked (Well my BF experience is a little bit of 1942, a little bit of BF2, hours upon hours of BC2 and a little of BF3, so maybe always isn't fair) and they never get it right. In BC2 saying it's junk would be fair. SOOOOOOOOOO many times i am beside a guy, shooting, you hear the bullets hit his body but he wouldn't die :/. Now they have moved to client side so what is happening is that sometimes people are running around a corner (happened to be me on 360 and couldn't figure out why until i read other complaints in the BF3 thread) is that they changed the hit detection to client side meaning if you are in a laggy game (not you laggy, but whatever issues EA/DICE are having that day) you are getting shot at, jump and duck behind cover, a second later you just got shot in the head... to be fair though, DICE has problems the way they did it in BC2 and they are trying to fix it by going a different rout but it's not working very well either. IMO the kings of hit detections are valve with the CS games, never had an issue with Counter Strike games...

This game is far superior to BF3. Do I have to play SP with Steam on?

you do

Ugh! I typed up a long post explaining why I was disappointed with the game and accidentally hit Ctrl-R (refresh) on my keyboard instead of Ctrl-T to open a new tab.

I'll start again but I'm going to keep it short. Basically, I'm frustrated with the game's overall noob-friendliness. It feels like the game was designed so that less skilled players could kill more skilled players without much effort. I think it's so bad that it plays much differently than MW2 or Black Ops. Also, the maps seem poorly designed and I'm not just saying that because I'm frustrated with the game. I've enjoyed just about every map in all of the Call of Duty games I've played so far: CoD 4, MW2, and Black Ops.

Anyway, it's quite frustrating to be killed randomly by players that are clearly unskilled. I consider myself quite skilled and perhaps more skilled than most of the players out there so it's very frustrating to lose in a 1-on-1 gun battle when I fired first. At the moment, I feel very disappointed with the game and I'm trying to get into it with each game. Unfortunately, it just doesn't feel right so I may just take a long break from it.

after beating the game on vet. i really must say i had a few "ohhh wow" & "awww" moments. i did enjoy playing the new guy. however the stupid guys block you from moving. but over all i give the game a 7/10 nothing beats the orig mw1 :)

GameSpot: 8.5/10

This is an exciting and rewarding game, but the series' signature thrills have lost some of their luster. Modern Warfare 3 iterates rather than innovates, so the fun you have is familiar.

I personally like this review summary on the comparison:

Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3 ? which is better? Oh, it's an impossible question. They're both modern day military shooters, but they work very differently, and they have different aims. Now that Battlefield 3 is working properly (almost) its vast, strategic warzones are utterly gripping and visually splendid; it is astonishing to close in on a distant firefight only to see an RPG round take out the front of an entire building. But Modern Warfare 3 offers the instant thrills and dumbass logic of the great arcade shooters. And it packs in masses of value, whatever you think of the controversial multiplayer system.

If you can, try both, or at least trust your instincts as a gamer ? that's the message that comes through loud and clear from all the reviews I've seen.

Are you referring to Multiply? I have not tried that yet.

Not hard to give games high scores when you're paid off to give them high scores.

i don't know how people embed them into the forums... teach me!

After picking up MW3 this morning, I now have that and BF3 to play - oh and UC3 :) So much to do so little time lol - BF3 and MW3 both have really cool things in the limited playtime with MW3 I've had thus far. I'm looking forward to wasting alot of time giving them both the full workout as time permits of course ;)

1st round of #MW3 bans going out. Any player attempting to play unfairly or boost rank will be banned from leaderboards and from playing.

Source!

I'm glad they're doing this, hopefully it means perma bans.

That is what I hear but I have never played online. I always play SP From COD thru CODMW3. I would not even know how to do it. Is there a noob clan. LOL

COD online is like the greatest form of crack/heroin ever created... you'll suck at the start, fumble a bit, think the high isn't worth it cause you are doing it wrong but after giving it another shot, you'll see why it's the best drug ever.

    • I sort of agree with you on that. I had a telescope - a real hefty thing, although only around 500CHF - that got me so fascinated about the stars and planets. I would stare for hours, amazed that I could see the craters of the moon or the rings of Saturn in "realtime" (quotations because, y'know, speed of light and whatnot). A friend of mine has a telescope like the one mentioned in the review, and the pictures are amazing to look at. But there is something missing for me. I may as well just go to NASA's website and look through their gallery.
    • As opposed to catching bad press because it's the engine's fault? The engine has all the tools a dev needs to optimize their game, Epic isn't gonna hold their hand to make sure they use them. Also, Epic isn't forcing anyone to use Lumen, Nanite or super high resolution meshes and textures. Just because Nanite can render meshes with millions of polygons doesn't mean you should use it like that, in fact, Epic recommends you avoid doing that. Most of the stuttering can easily be fixed by cutting down on unique shaders by using master materials and generating a PSO cache and compiling every shader before loading the game and also managing what must be loaded and unloaded at runtime, it's up to the developer to set all that up properly.
    • I think it depends on what you're looking for to do, and the time you have to spare. With my Dwarf 3, I easily spend 3-4 hour sessions; half an hour driving to an un-light polluted place, another half hour unpacking and setting up the smart scope + tripod for equatorial tracking, then 15 more minutes mucking around with settings and shooting calibration frames, spending a few hours shooting, merging with past photo sessions, etc. It's crazy how time flies and I often get home later than I expected. It's something I still need to set aside a good part of an evening to do, all in all. For one session, where you often need like four for best results when it comes to deep space objects. Even with a smart scope like Dwarf 3, regular non-astro photography is still way more approachable to people getting into photography. I find this is a time consuming niche no matter how I go about it. With practice, I can probably begin cutting time here but I think where smart scopes find their home is among people who love to shoot the night sky but don't have the spare time to go deep with the "navigator level" attunement to the night sky itself in addition to everything else. Having said this, _if_ you have even more time to spend on this hobby, it will probably be even more rewarding to do it more by hand and learn the skies and the details of how it all works.
    • I misread the title and thought Teams itself would be redesigned. Imagine having this one as a native WinUI app.
    • Dell, HP PCs ran into endless reboot, BitLocker recovery loops but Windows 11 isn't to blame by Sayan Sen Last month Neowin reported on a major issue on Dell systems wherein a bug in its official support tool was leading to endless blue screen of death (BSOD) and restarts. Following our report, Dell officially acknowledged its SupportAssist-related crash issue, confirming that the culprit is not Microsoft's operating system but rather a faulty version of its own remediation software. In a newly published support advisory, Dell stated that version 5.5.16.0 of Dell SupportAssist Remediation and Alienware SupportAssist Remediation can trigger blue screen errors and unexpected system restarts. The company notes that the problematic component operates independently of the main SupportAssist application, meaning users should not remove the primary SupportAssist software when troubleshooting the issue. According to Dell, the crashes are linked specifically to the SupportAssist Remediation service, which is bundled with SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools, and as such it has since released an updated version, 5.5.16.1, which is said to resolve the problem. Affected users are advised to first verify whether version 5.5.16.0 is installed by checking the Installed Apps section in Windows Settings. If so, Dell recommends updating SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools through either SupportAssist's "Update Software" feature or Dell Command Update. Dell also advises users to back up important data before performing the update and to ensure systems remain connected to power throughout the installation process. If you are still having issues though make sure to report to the Dell support forum. As it turns out though Dell is not the only PC maker currently dealing with update-related headaches as HP is also facing a separate but probably equally frustrating issue involving recent Windows Secure Boot updates that were released with recent Windows 11 Patch Tuesdays. Similar to Dell, HP also put up its own support article where it explains the issue. The company says that affected devices could hit a brick wall when booting as they run into a BitLocker recovery loop after the April 2026 updates. The problem appears to affect systems wherein the new UEFI Secure Boot CA 2023 certificates fail to apply properly. As such affected users will find themselves entering their recovery key over and over again despite the system otherwise functioning normally. HP says such PCs should be updated to the latest available BIOS version and configured with the necessary Secure Boot certificates before installing Microsoft's Windows 11 Patch Tuesday updates. Systems that are already experiencing the problem may require BIOS configuration changes to restore normal boot behavior. Admins can find information regarding that in the support article here on HP's official website.
