The engine is modular like source and unreal tech engines, they evolve over time. I think the game looks fine, the amount of stuff it kicks out at you and to keep it at 60fps is an achievement.

I started to play the single player last night and was enjoying it and then all of a sudden mid mission it reset to the main menu with the error "Reliable command buffer overflow". From what i've read it is specific to that mission. So i'll try the fix to get around it. Hopefully that'll work and i can continue. I want to finish the SP before i jump into the multiplayer. It is my first Call of Duty since the first two original Call of Duty's that i am playing on the PC.

Ended up getting the game for PS3 (only paid $30 after trading 2 old games and using a $15 gift card). First impression is somewhat dissapointed. The game feels just like MW2. I knew that going in but I was actually shocked that it was EXACTLY like MW2. Jumped into MP and pretty much picked up where I left off in Black Ops. I know that campaign will be good so I have that to look forward to. It just feels like MW2 add on. I'll give it some more time though.

I guess I got spoilt by BF3 :woot:

PS -- this is just my opinion!

--snip--

These are my own videos that I've uploaded for you guys to view, hopefully this gives you a little more insight on the maps and how I feel about the game in general. Please take the time to watch the videos as they are full length matches. It should give you a view on how the games actually play out, what to expect, and what gun I might have fallen in love with. It is in 720p, so be sure to swap it to that option.

Great videos, I can't wait to pick up the game tomorrow! Add me on live, GT: NoLiMiT06

Just played a little bit of multiplayer last night (about 45 minutes worth). Coming from somebody who hasn't played a Call of Duty game since February of 2010 (I skipped Black Ops completely), I enjoyed it. It felt good to play CoD again, though I suppose time will tell if that sentiment remains after the initial excitement has worn off. Or more importantly, I wonder if any ridiculous tactics will manifest themselves over time.

I was playing the 360 version, FYI. Judging from the last few pages, it looks like the PC version was a bit of a rush job. Definitely a shame, though Activision hasn't given a crap about the PC in ages, so I didn't really expect this leopard to change its stripes.

Story: better than BF3.

What about Black Ops?

The videos I've seen -- especially the cutscenes -- have looked incredibly cheesy. One thing I will commend Black Ops on is having a fun, fairly unique story (even if it was predictable).

story is better in black ops for sure. SP gameplay/action is debated IMO.

Anyone?

If you?re playing Modern Warfare 3 on PC and have been playing through the campaign, there?s a good chance you encountered the ?reliable command buffer overflow? error in the mission Goalpost. It sucks, doesn?t it? Well, one helpful Call of Duty forum member has figured out how to avoid this error. He said this:

The solution is not to go along the street but jump inside the bulding with broken windows on the right. There will be several enemies there, you will kill them, exit the building on the other side and the checkpoint will save. Going along the street in the open causes this glitch.

Our bro Ron has tried this and confirmed that it work, so just do what the good man says and you?ll be on your way to winning the war and having fun again. Yay fun!

nm

Well I have never ran across this is any COD game. OK, I will stay off of the street. :woot:

Bought this game last night, add me to the "disappointed" list.

I have MW1, MW2, Black Ops, I didn't need this game. It's just the same with new maps. Graphics look dated, I thought the menu systems were even worse than Black Ops actually.

Then there's the classic lag in CoD games. Every server I played in had lag and I rarely see that kind of lag in BF3. Server timeouts and getting booted 1 out of every 3 games.

If you have never played a Modern Warfare game I'm sure you will like it, but it's now like the Madden franchise. Just tweak a couple things, make a few new maps then release every year and everyone is crazy over it. I really wished I had just held off and then bought Skyrim. I'm getting Skyrim anyways, but I just wasted $60. I'll still play it because some of my friends bought it who don't live in my province anymore, but otherwise I'm going back to BF3.

Honestly, after playing BF3, MW3 doesn't stack up.

Just my take tho..

Can somebody just confirm something for me?

Are there dedicated servers and a server browser, like Black Ops, on the PC version of the game?

I found Modern Warfare 2 unplayable due to not having this, and found myself spending more time in the lobby, then in a game...

Correct. You pay for it all upfront. ;)

lol that's true but you got a solid discount if you bought elite with the game on launch.

i miss when DLC was just patches...

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
