SpeedGuide TCP Optimizer 3.0.8

The TCP Optimizer is a free, easy Windows program that provides an intuitive interface for tuning and optimizing your Internet connection.

There is no installation required, just download and run.

The program can aid both the novice and the advanced user in tweaking related TCP/IP parameters in the Windows Registry, making it easy to tune your system to the type of Internet connection used.

The tool uses advanced algorithms, and the bandwidth*delay product to find the best TCP Window for your specific connection speed.

It provides for easy tuning of all related TCP/IP parameters, such as MTU, RWIN, and even advanced ones like QoS and ToS/Diffserv prioritization.

The program works with all current versions of Windows, and includes additional tools, such as testing average latency over multiple hosts, and finding the largest possible packet size (MTU).

The TCP Optimizer is targeted towards broadband internet connections, however it can be helpful with tuning any internet connection type, from dialup to Gigabit+ :)

SpeedGuide TCP Optimizer 3.0.8 version changes:

- Added NetworkThrottlingIndex gaming tweak to the Advanced tab

- Changed "MaxUserPort" optimal value from 65535 to 65534.

Um, doesn't Windows 7 and Windows Vista automatically adjust it according to your network settings?

It's probably aimed at those cavemen that still use WinXP.

That header is probably just displaying whatever system you are running it on, which in this case that user is purely incompetent enough to realize Win7 does not need to be tweaked for optimal networking.

That's my computer OS. Keep in mind that a lot of people still use XP and even Win 98 nowadays, and not all of us have a fast broadband connection so that's why programs like this still exist.

On Windows 7 there are still tweaks that can be done and the program is modified to change those new tweaks. It doesn't change the RWIN value like it did for XP, it allows control over the Auto-Tuning feature as well as some other features that are turned off that can improve performance. Before the changes to the program, the site had a batch file that did these changes. They detail all of it on their site on recommended values and what each setting is for.

    • Maybe he has an Nvidia? Nvidia, especially on laptops, is still a nightmare, but that's mostly on Nvidia. Still, users don't care, users want it to work. (not saying Nvidia's Windows drivers work these days either)
    • Yeah, sure. Everyone just convert their PC with all their data and apps to Linux today. Most people do not know what Linux is, wouldn't know which of the dozen or 2 versions would be the best fit for them nor have any idea how to install it. I have no problem with Linux being the underlying operating system for commercial devices sold and maintained by organizations. Microsoft needs to get their act together, listen to their general user's complaints and release a productive, user friendly W12. All the good things under the hood but an easy to use interface.
