Once installed it would patch though, which will get you what you need.

At which point you're advocating ... what? At that point the servers will be up, so legitimate players will be able to play.

Plus, I believe the server acts similarly to an MMO: no server, no mobs.

I am not sure what you think I am saying? I have a legitimate D3 license, I bought the game. It's more about the fact of having it downloaded and fully installed for the minute D3 launches instead of hoping your download doesn't suck, due to the hordes of people downloading it at launch.

You are correct though in the server, the server 100% handles mobs, npcs, health, damage, etc. But you are wrong in the thought that getting it downloaded, installed, and patched ahead of schedule was in relation to having a private server.

Ah. Well, we know there's going to be a day one patch as it is, and they'll likely leave that as late as possible - so even if we we're fully patched now, we're unlikely to be on release.

Never played any of the Diablo games before, this will be my first. My partner and I are looking to Co-Op it all! One of the main reasons I'm getting it, besides loving loot games. She ALWAYS plays as a mage, so she'll be going a Wizard.

Going by WoW (which I know might be a bad idea here) it would make sense for me to go a Barbarian and offer some protection/tanking? It seems to make sense to co-op a caster like a Wizard with a melee character like a Barbarian.

Or does it really simply not matter and any duo work well from start to finish?

There really isn't tanking and dps so to speak. It's pretty much a free for all in most cases. I think that a solid team would be a barb and a monk. Be the same as a tank and heals except both can do dps and heal themselves (but the barb can take more damage, and the monk can heal).

If the barb is close to how they were in the first and second... it will be all about a little life steal, a little mana steal, and a lot of WirlWinding about :)

keep in mind on Monday morning at 8:01AM PDT you will be able to install the game from the pre downloader. that way you can have it ready to go and fully patched prior to the actual release of the game w00t

ooh i will do that... but gona have to wait for my key to come in my door :cry: ... where i am, for a 1kg package can take serval days to ship.. and collectors edition wiegts 3kg ... so i hope they "pre-ship" it :|

Agreed. That's why I laugh every time I read the threads on the official forums about people taking time off from work to play at midnight and the next day.

There is no way in hell the servers are going to stay up at midnight. I'd even go so far as to say the servers are going to be slow/down for most of the 15th.

Same. I'm getting my copy and a friend his copy a few days after it is released. I am going to give them a few days to iron out the bad bugs. Launches this huge never go well.

will have it installed Monday morning, then going to the midnight release so i can get my goodies from the collectors edition then by the time i can see again (posted earlier and on my blog about my eyes being worked on on the 15th) it should be ready just in time for my eyes to see again :D

I've heard rumors of WoW eventually going to a free to play/lower price per month subscription model. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Doubt it, WoW goes through those rumors ever so often.

Really looking forward to this game, will have the game installed and ready to go at midnight and will add my CE key whenever it gets in later that day(annual sub)

      What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.

      If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
