My previous question regarding turning off the Trilinear Filtering was not worded very well, sorry about that.

What I meant to ask was: for those who turned it off, were there any changes (using the exact in-game menu settings) to the actual visuals of the game? Not FPS-wise, but did the game look better/worse, softer/sharper, etc? Does this change really only affect the frame rates basically? If this alters the graphics quality, probably won't mess with it with the FPS I am getting.

After fighting diablo the next day I lost all my items :s I guess I was hacked even though I have never used my password anywhere else, bought gold, etc. My password would never show up in a dictionary list so I have no clue how all my items were gone.

My friend got hacked yesterday, too. I believe her when she says she never bought gold or visited any questionable sites to expose her password. If I'm understanding it right if your game is open to the public people can join your game and somehow see your session id and password and just take over your account. Even if you have an authenticator.

Blizzard wasn't any help, they told her to get an authenticator and stfu basically.

I must be lacking on decent armor for my monk because on Act 4, going solo in normal, I am still dying quite a bit in areas with packs of monsters with at least one rare monster. Part of it are those ice mines that freeze you.

Check out the auction house for good gear. Set the options to dexterity/vitality and set a maximum buyout of 5 or 10K. Once you get good gear, you won't have any issues playing alone in Normal mode.

I love giant packs, the more the merrier. As a monk, that is a strong suit. It is the small packs that kill me. My highest kill streak is 192 mobs on Hell, in Act III on the ramparts. It was awesome and lasted forever, I for sure thought I was dead multiple times, but Boon of Protection spam and basically unlimited spirit saved me.

Will do once I get off work!

Is anyone else having Auction House issues. Last night, and today at lunch, I could not buy anything, it just got hung up and said server timed out. Same thing happens when I try to list auctions, and when I try to send gold or items from my Completed to my stash, they are stuck there and I can't send them. Started last night, and is apparently still plaguing me today. :(

As a Monk, I too prefer to engage larger groups at a time (vs. smaller groups). I had some issues with the auction house as well as logging on so it's not just you. I also had latency issues earlier today that resulted in my character dying more than once.

So how limited is the Starter edition? Got a monk build and I am not sure how to progress until I buy the full game. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it's limited to half of Act 1 (up to the Skeleton King). And you can only level up to 13. On top of that, you can't play with non-starter edition players and you have no access to the auction house (real money or gold).

Nothing that I saw. Game looks the same, just runs with less hiccups.

Well if that's the case then I'm glad I don't open my games to the public.....does that apply if you join someone elses public game? Either way I haven't joined or created a public game so I should be safe for now (if what you mentioned is how they are getting accounts).

After being hacked your account can only be restored twice in its lifetime, once before authenticator use and once after.... So if you get hacked with the authenticator more than once you're screwed even though it's probably Blizzard's fault.

It's not Blizzards fault. They've come out and said that everyone who's been hacked has been hacked the traditional way. If there was a security issue with Bnet, they have a legal obligation to tell everyone about it.

ON the official Diablo forum, someone came out and said they were hacked while having an authenticator. Bashiok came out and owned him hard, saying he only added the authenticator AFTER being hacked. So far, anyone claiming being hacked with an authenticator has shown 0 proof of it.

Also, on another note, I am not a fan of the fact that your password is not case sensitive to login.

Just a heads up for monk players, massive nerf coming to Boon of Protection tomorrow. They are effectively removing the skill until they have time to fix it....

Back to evasion based builds I guess, BoP was pretty much the only valid healing skill for monks.

Well, my build just went to sh*t then....

I'm confused, aren't there wizards out there that can solo inferno by having no health and never dying?

I've tried all the other heals, and I don't think I would have made it through Hell without this, and I can't even make it through Inferno even having this...I'm so confused.

Also, this is why I was also hesitant at buying the game. Blizzard's crap track record for nerfing stuff back when I used to play WoW aggravated me into discontinuing play. I figured Diablo is mostly single player, and the online thing was just DRM.... Not for them to f**k with the game and classes.

From what I have read sofar, it seems that as you progress through the difficulty levels, melee-centric characters like the Barbarian are having a harder time vs. ranged-centric characters. Is this currently a fairly accurate statement? I am still on Normal and on the tail end of Act III on a Barbarian and it sounds like it's going to get really tough later on.

Just WOW.... Ya, I don't see myself getting through Hell - Act 1 now without that.... Hell, it was my main way of staying alive in Nightmare! They really are trying to **** over melee as much as possible it seems right now.

Tell me about it. Blizzard are flat out denying it's their fault and will penalize you with restricted access to RMAH if they restore your account. Two strikes and you lose complete access to it. I'm at the point where I either wait for my account to be restored or just cut my losses and keep playing. I've already lost 3 days of playing time because I get owned by anything that walks.

That's basically what they're telling everyone now, "you didn't use an authenticator and it's your fault for not having one in the first place". I'm pretty sure everyone that got hacked is at fault. Yet I'm still seeing the hacker that took my items in my recently played list after 3 days of inaction on Blizzard's part.

Currently Inferno is broken in that only Demon Hunters and Wizards can "successfully" solo. Although, they still require a lot of kiting and sometimes skipping rare/champion packs. There are apparently some people who bought Inferno Act 4 gear and still cannot get past Act 2 as Monks or Barbarians. Enemies in Act 2 simply do too much damage when in melee range, and no amount of gear or skill can overcome 40,000K hits from normal enemies; let alone elite packs with impossible affixes. (here's looking you jailer/immune/molten/fast packs)

This, to me, means the thought process of what Inferno should be is broken. But the difficulty spike could also have something to do with the way Blizzard implemented gear thresholds. Personally, I think there are bugs in the way defensive stats like armor and dodge are being calculated resulting in Inferno being literally impossible for Barbarians and Monks. But who knows at this point.

I never used the skill and I'm in Act 3 nightmare on my monk.....only items I buy from the AH are weapons, so my gear could definitely be better.....only time I die in NM on my monk is some particularly hard mobs if I'm not careful (shielding/molten or plague/shielding or similar things), it involves a good bit of kiting around to stay out of their AoEs and dodging damage while waiting for cooldowns, but other than those, my monk goes through nightmare pretty easily without the skill that's being nerfed (can't even remember what it's called as I don't use it).....but considering melee is already weakened compared to ranged classes in hell/inferno, I don't see why they would bother making one of the melee classes even weaker......I have a feeling barb is going to get the first major buff balances though, he's one of the weakest classes for inferno (even the monk typically does better due to the skill options he has).

I didn't start using it until just about Nightmare Act 3. But it has become a skill almost needed right now in Hell mode. And due to this nerf to monks, they are now weaker than barbs.

Yeah, I never touched the ability in Nightmare. I was straight DPS skills.

Once you hit Hell though, you will see, it is necessary (or was). I completely, redid every single skill when I moved onto Hell. Without it, I would have never made it through Hell due to frustration, lol. Even with it, I have serious trouble in Inferno. I'm really hoping someone else knows a good build after the nerf, =/.

I thought it was a joke at first. No reason given, customer 100% at fault and blizzard says **** you we have your money. We're really sorry about the inconvenience this has caused you but we're not going to do **** about it. And the /huggles? Tells me this really is a joke to them.

I'm really put off buying this game now and I would suggest others who haven't bought it to avoid it for a while too.

Below you'll find a list of hotfixes which address various gameplay and service issues affecting Diablo III. Hotfixes are updates we make on our end without requiring you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented, while others may require your realm to be restarted to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch update. We will continue to update this thread in the days ahead as additional hotfixes are applied.

Spoiler Warning: If you have not yet completed Diablo III on Normal, some hotfixes described in this list may include spoilers.

I understand balancing some aspects of the classes out so that they are more fun to play. I just hope that balancing out each class so that they are all perfectly "equal" isn't taken to an obsessive level. It probably will once PvP comes out because everyone will bitch and moan otherwise. But as far as the main content goes, so far I'm finding playing the Witch Doctor is more of a challenge than playing as a Barbarian was and I'm fine with that. Its OK for me that some classes are more challenging to play than others.

Yeah, I never touched the ability in Nightmare. I was straight DPS skills.

Ya, I'm on Hell Act 1, and to try and adjust, I set up a new build without MoH... I wiped about 8 times on a fast moving, arcane orb shooting, walling mob.... Nothing beats MoH on monk. Unless blizzard wants this to be a game where I attack for 3 seconds then kite for 15... they need to think of a damn fix before totally destroying a needed skill on one of the most underpowered classes for end game content.

Here's the email they sent to my friend, this has got to be the most unprofessional "customer service" email I've ever seen:

First of all, they have a script they must stick too. Second, how old is your friend? The script may be based on age, how the initial petition was sent, etc. Third, what happened to your friend? Were items taken? Was gold taken? What?

I had my wow account hacked, and within 30 minutes of e-mailing Blizzard I had all my gear, gold, and items back on all toons that were hacked as well as 3 charges to my credit card reversed.

Awesome. while playing my Barbarian, alone, solo, single player, (the recreated barb that Blizzard screwed up and put on the US server) the Euro servers decided to go BAM, with absolutely no warning. that's great, it's not like the fields after spider woman is a large area to re-explore to find those damn adventurer books about the Khazra bounty or anything....

And of course their server status page claims the servers are up. and my single player game time is being disrupted by random server downtime with absolutely no explanation....

According to the open letter, “this action has taken the best models away from [cybersecurity] defenders” who now can’t use the models to find vulnerabilities and make their software and products more secure. “To pull the best capabilities away from defenders without a good reason when our adversaries are rapidly advancing is dangerous,” read the letter. On Friday, the U.S. government ordered Anthropic to limit the export of Fable and Mythos, citing national security concerns, without explaining the specific reasons behind the order, according to Anthropic. In response, the company suspended access to the models to all users worldwide.     https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/15/cybersecurity-vets-protest-dangerous-us-government-ban-on-anthropics-most-powerful-models/
