Can't edit my last post...

Just finished Butcher in hell....died twice, on the third try my friend died (we've been playing just us two on these specific characters, never solo on them either) when he was down to about 1/3 of his health and I couldn't create enough time to res him with the butcher after me, after about 5-10 minutes of dodging and chipping away at his health he finally went down, have a few very close calls but finally did it.....25.5k HP, 2.6k armor (total damage reduction of 49% or so), 3.3k DPS (plus enemies take 24% more damage due to my mantra) at level 53.

auction house is generally acting stupid most of the time, i've had a completed auction now for about 4 hours that i can't send to my stash.. earlier today i couldn't even get into it because my currency was "incorrect"

i actually just bought something now on the ah, a much needed amulet upgrade, and it's not showing up either :\

It can take a bit. Sometimes quitting the game and relogging back in will make it show up too.

nope not working. It didn't even show up in the log. :\.

edit: I just checked the D3 forums.. apparently there is something going on. Lots of people losing money.Well digital money. I spent 8,5XX it's not much, but it's better than those people who spent 11K.

Yeah, looks like a lot of purchases are failing at the moment.

In other news, making good progress in hell (almost done with act2). Had to change my build quite a bit and pick up a pair of daggers from AH, highest DPS weapons that dropped for me were not even making a dent to elite packs. It is kind of annoying how gear dependent especially monks are.. skill use makes minimal difference if your weapons do not have high enough dps, basically forcing every into AHing at the higher difficulties.

Currently at 1202 dex, 581 vit, 3.8k armor, 4.3k dps and 21k life. Using Crippling Wave (Concussion), Sweeping Wind (Fire Storm), Mantra of Evasion (Hard Target), Serenity (Peaceful Repose), Breath of Heaven (Blazing Wrath) and Mystic Ally (Earth).

Much more brave than I.....while deaths through Normal and Nightmare can easily be avoided if geared (later nightmare becomes a bit more difficult), I do not think I would venture into hell (or inferno from what I've heard) without have the best gear you could get. I've died more in A1 hell than I did throughout normal and nightmare combined.

Yeah I think I'll go softcore soon. I like to grab a beer after work, get into the game, but on hardcore, there's much less opportunity to lay back and relax ))

As for the hell difficulty, I decided right away that I would check out the mobs on Normal first, go map-by-map, learn their abilities, and then follow shortly on my hardcore toon.

The jump in difficulty from Nightmare to Hell is pretty high. Right now, I'm playing through the first act of Inferno. I defeated the Skeleton King with Nephalem Valor stacked 5 times. It's a buff you get at level 60 after killing champion or elite packs. It grants you increased magic and gold find, and the point of it is to make you stick with one build. Also, I think you get extra loot if you kill a boss while the buff is active.

I got bored of the game. Blizz failed imo to create a long lasting game

People quit Diablo 2 after months/years because they eventually got bored of it. Diablo 3 is Diablo 2 with less features and customization. Item customization is poor and not very diverse, and the rune system isnt anywhere as interesting as Diablo 2 was with its synergy system. No PVP, and Inferno is stupidly boring with mobs that do 70k damage a hit..half the classes couldnt survive that hit with any amount of gear.

They also removed any sense of community from the game. In d2, you had to spam trade channels and join trade games to barter with other players. Now we have this broken and 'impersonal' auction house. Blizzard was so afraid of Chinese Farmers they made it so you're forced to go through it, and they want to suck as much money out of it through commission.

While the match making system is the ONLY advantage Battle.net 2.0 has over 1.0, its also a downside. No one talks to eachother in the game anymore.

This game reminds me of SWTOR, its a single player game with a chat box, except in D3's case, you dont even need the chat box.

Overall, this games basic design is poor.

I lost track of how many times the auction house went down. And whenever it's up, it sometimes doesn't work the way it should. I really hope the issues are fixed soon. At the very least, it should be fixed once the real money auction house goes up.

Honestly I'm not feeling very much like logging in atm, but I don't think that's blizzard's fault. I think I just played too much right at release. I had a similar thing happen with D2. It was when I went back later and played much more casually that I was able to enjoy it for a much longer time. That and I think I picked the wrong character to start with. I started out as a barbarian and I got too used to smashing through things on Normal/Nightmare with ease and now that I'm in the next highest difficulty and have to adjust my playstyle to something completely different I'm not enjoying it as much. I started a witch doctor and it's much more enjoyable.

The thing about the battle.net interaction feeling a lot less personal .. Let me just ask you something, are you trying to talk to the people that the game pairs you with? A lot of people come into D3 with the WoW dungeon finder mentality. I've found that once I started talking to the people I get matched up with they come out of their shell a bit.

I won't fault Blizzard for the auction house though. While it's true that I played D2 for years, most of that was trading with other people rather than actually playing the game. I like it more this way.

I don't think there's anything impersonal about Battle.net for Diablo 3. I usually play with my friends but there were times when I joined public games. In just about every game, either I said hi or the people I joined said hi. Often times, I'd chat with people about items they found or tactics they've used. Diablo 3 requires your full attention during battles because there's no auto-attacking. That usually means the other player will at least notice what you type.

The only problem I see with Diablo 3 is the lack of voice chat. I don't know why it doesn't feature voice chat like StarCraft 2. I sometimes have to talk with my real friends over the phone, on Steam, or through Ventrilo. Basically, whichever form of communication is most convenient for them.

Blizzard said the reason for that was that basically nobody uses the built in voice chat for WoW or SC2 so they didn't want to include something that people would never use in D3.

I agree with you though that Bnet for D3 isn't really impersonal. Chat channels in D2 weren't as great as some people seem to remember them being. They were mostly spam.

umm.

Basihok (i think) made a reply to this video on the forums. Were it was the 5th most popular WD (excluding passives) build, and it didn't even cover .01% of the population.

Imagine all the builds there are.

If anyone still has a guest pass my curiosity is truly getting the best of me. I passed on one earlier in the thread so really no big deal, I just truly want to see what all the fuss is about.

Why didn't you ask me when I was giving codes out? lol.

Yeah, the lack of voice chat is a real bummer for me. Was playing with my friend the other night and when one of us needed to go back to town the other was usually already gone on their way somewhere else. Not sure why Blizzard thought it would be an unwanted feature.

Just use Skype.

After about 2 years of wheeling and dealing with the wife and roughly 9 years since my last build, I finally started ordering parts for my new gaming unit. So excited to experience D3 truly - the Intel HD 3000 just doesn't cut it. And I'm hoping PvP will be out soon, still no rumblings about it yet.

I think the reason folks are feeling 'bored' or disinterested is partly due to some of these things just missing from the game.

    • Sound Booster 1.13 Build 575 by Razvan Serea Increase volume on your laptop. Boost the volume of even very quiet speakers. Raise volume above maximum. Letasoft Sound Booster can be used as an extra amplifier when the volume of the program you are listening to is too low for comfortable listening and you feel that your PC’s speakers can produce a louder sound. This can be the case when the audio or video has been recorded at the level below normal. Or, for example, when the other person’s microphone you are talking to on Skype, is not working properly. There can be a plenty of other reasons why the sound is being too quiet and there is not much you can do about it except buy external speakers. Sound of any application that is being played in the system can be amplified up to 500%. Letasoft Sound Booster can raise volume of programs like web browsers, on-line communication software (Teams, Discord, Zoom), any kind of media player or games. Simply put, volume of virtually any program that can play any sound in PC, can be boosted to a comfortable level with Letasoft Sound Booster. You can control current volume with the pop-up slider from the system tray. Alternatively, you can assign system-wide hot keys for increasing and decreasing, and use them when you need to adjust volume Letasoft Sound Booster constantly monitors current gain level and prevents samples from clipping, thus reducing all major sound distortions. • I own these and the normal QuietComfort ones from Bose. The QC are amazing and I want to love these, but for the life of me, I have a terrible time getting them attached to my ears.
    • Thanks for the tip. I am giving it a try. Initial quick impression: I like it.
