It took me about 30 tries but FINALLY I've beaten Belial back to where he belongs! :woot: I had to step up my damage to 44k, only had 21k hp with around 200-250 resists, 12% movement speed and 2.0X attack speed using 1H Axe and Source.

My build as Wizard was:

Left Mouse: Shock Pulse (Piercing Orb, is a great attack to use because it goes through everything whilst using no Arcane Power)

Right Mouse: Blizzard (Snowbound for less Arcane Power Usage to spam it)

Button 1: Hydra (Venom Hydra rune, great damage dealer and good for kiting, especially good against targets standing still or moving slowly)

Button 2: Diamond Skin (Crystal Shell can save your life quite a lot of the time and can even save you from dying to Belials double handed smash sometimes)

Button 3: Energy Armor (With Force Armor rune, this will also save you from being one or two shotted as a Wizard... for the most part anyway.)

Button 4: Magic Weapon (With Force Weapon rune, massive increase to damage, is also apparently bugged since it gives 30% more damage instead of 15%)

Passives:

Cold Blooded for 20% more damage to Chilled Targets (This is of course because Blizzard slows your enemies when they run through it)

Glass Cannon for 15% more damage but less armor and resists.

Astral Presence because Energy Armor takes away 20 Arcane Power, you'll need this to give it back to have 100 Arcane Power (or more if you have +Arcane Power on items) and it also helps the regen of Arcane Power which is handy for more damage dealing/crowd control.

For my companion I chose the Templar for healing/charging stun for that extra survivability just in case something went wrong.

The Fight:

Phase 1 was quite easy for me, I started by casting Blizzard off to the right bottom of my character and then Venom Hydra whilst running towards the right hand side of the area. Once at the very right of the screen, I cast Blizzard on myself and then in front of that Blizzard, stopping only to replace Venom Hydra close by. I kept spamming Blizzard when I had Arcane Power and spamming Shock Pulse when I had none towards the oncoming enemies killing them fairly quickly and before they could get close and only used Diamond Skin whenever the Naga mobs spawned next to me otherwise there was no point as they died so easily.

Phase 2 was slightly harder but easily doable if you're on your toes and dodging everything Belial does to you. His normal attack after he charges you didn't deal that much damage to me and was easily survivable with the health globes on the floor. The trick here is to cast Blizzard on top of you as soon as the phase starts and run up/down and to the left away from him before he can hit you, now he's slowed and you're out of melee range. Quickly cast another Venom Hydra and spam Blizzard on both him and the distance between the two of you as he gets closer, keep this up and when he stops to start chucking out his 3 poison orbs at you, you know what to do, dodge them and keep Blizzard/Venom Hydra on him and keep spamming Shock Pulse, you'll have to cast Blizzard on the spot you're standing on when you see snakes coming toward you when they spawn behind or in front. Focus on killing these first and let the Blizzards/Venom Hydra do damage to Belial. When he starts getting close to 25% health, just nuke him with everything you have, using Diamond Skin if you need to block damage from nearby Naga enemies.

Phase 3, this was the tricky bit for me as I completely sucked at dodging Belials attacks, both hand smashes and the explosions that he does but the movement speed on boots really helped me (even if I did lose 881 damage to gain the movement speed ).

Simply go to the right hand side of the screen where you can see a yellow stone, place a Venom Hydra wherever you like at the top where Belial appears and once he appears and is attackable, begin spamming Blizzard on him and throwing some Shock Pulses at him for some more damage, carefully watching out for his first few attacks.

Once you've dodged the first one, you can usually run to where it landed to dodge the second follow-up smash and then dodging the third, go back to the right hand side of the platform again and continue to dodge his attacks and his breath (which won't hit you if you're on the very right side of the platform). The bit that killed me most of the time was the explosions, the movement speed helps here and sometimes you can't help but be hit, you might want to save your Diamond Skin for this as it can save you from an otherwise certain death. During the explosions, I like to run left most of the time along the bottom of the platform to give me more room to run in but sometimes it's not possible to do so.

Act 3 is really painful for me at the moment now, getting 1-2 shotted by most mobs and certainly by elite packs but slowly making progress and earning a profit in gold (even with the repair bills). Next upgrades will be more resists and more Vitality but hopefully I can keep the damage  as I can 2 shot some mobs (Revenge!).

Hopefully you'll keep dodging Belial and being pesky and eventually he'll die (or you will ) and hopefully any of what I've typed here helps you in any way. So good luck, you can do it! Feel free to ask me any questions about anything else too and I'll try my best to answer! :)

Saw the 1.03 patch notes...meh, still no PvP. Which is fine, I guess, more time to gear but still.

They said PvP wasn't coming to 1.1. There's a blue post or on the blog where they stated that.

Interesting, thanks. So, PvP will be arena only. That's disappointing. Dueling was the joint in D2.

I beat hell difficulty last night. Proud to say that I did it without hitting up the AH from level 52 on up.

Act I on Inferno has just been raping me so I'm back going through Hell difficulty praying for some better drops. Can't find a good skill synergy for the mobs on Inferno. Trash is fine and some named mobs are not too bad but most of them one shot me. Probably just need to get better gear.

so apparently Blizzard nerfed the jar/vase drops to little to none.

I'm not sure what they want us to do at this point. They don't want us farming anything, nothing, other than elites/champions (which drop crap loot.)

By this point, I put the game away, (unless RL friends wanna play a little) and put my account on PlayerAuctions. I've gotten a couple 200$ offers for my account, but hoping for $400. Oh well, was fun while it lasted.

I didn't really have any problems with Act I on inferno until I got to the butcher, took about 8 or so tries to down him. Then I move onto act 2 and random non elites are hitting me as hard as the butcher and 2 and 3 shotting me.. it's frustrating enough that I rage quit the game. At the moment i have about 18k dps and 48k hp

Been playing off and on, and just got to act 4, and the first fight with 1000's of shadow things and the one boss is killing me! Is there a way to go back to act 3 to level up a bit, and then go back to act 4?

(level up and bit and make some gold to buy better gear! 99% of what i get is crap! LOL)

Yeah, you can't farm, then when you try to kill elites, your armor breaks, can't fix armor because of insanely expensive repair bill. Then well it is checkmate.

I've given up on Act 2 of Inferno until the release of Patch 1.03 (whenever that is). I look forward to all the changes except for the increased repair cost. I really hope Blizzard doesn't settle with a value as high as 4 to 6 times the current repair cost at level 60.

I'm just getting into the middle of Act 2 on Hell mode, and all of a sudden mobs are just destroying me. My 55 Demon Hunter was literally unstoppable until now, but jeez. I have 10k dps and 25k health. Go figure.

I hit some walls in hell too, but you'll break through it just like me.

You got 3 times the health and 3 times the DPS my barb had when I did Hell. I had to change up skills compared to what I was using, and once I did that, I had no problems running through.

I finished Act 1 inferno, and it's time to start act 2, I got the dps, (11k), resists (lowest one is 550), armor (8k, could use another 1k), but I'm lacking the health. Should be at around 35-40k, and I'm chilliin at 26k and I also have zero LoH. Time to farm act 1 to get enough gold to get gear with enough LoH on it. Playing barb sucks sometimes.

I really don't understand what the animosity is over Blizzard making Inferno really really hard. Go back through the beginning acts of Inferno, and maybe even the later acts of Hell for more loot and try again (repeat until you get what you need). Don't want to do that, then shop the AH. Some of you probably have so much tunnel vision for improving DPS that you are neglecting your elemental protections which is required to get through Inferno difficulty.

Look, if every time you killed an elite mob something really awesome dropped then you would be complaining about that as well. What makes it fun is that one time you do actually get an up that drops! That joy would be diminished if there was awesome loot dropping left and right.

I don't think some of you understand that this is completely consistent with Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 which the hardcore fans adored for years. There is a reason that D1 and D2 were played for years. The game wasn't really ever about progressing until some final end. And it wasn't meant to be played through a linear progression until you came to this final end. Blizzard designed the game so that a player would have to go through sections of Hell difficulty multiple times before they were geared enough for Inferno difficulty. They also expect you to go over the same Acts in Inferno difficulty multiple times before progressing to the next Act. They through in the AH functionality in order for some players to bypass this grind and get closer to completely the game on the hardest difficulty. But for some folks (like me), the game isn't about beating it in its entirety its about rolling dice a bunch of times and hoping to see big numbers at some point.

I get in my bitch fits about the drops too sometimes, when it seems like I've played for 2 days and haven't seen a single thing. But that's the game. You do that until you are absolutely sick of it and then you are done playing :). Or you start an Alt for awhile.

I hope that I eventually beat Diablo on Inferno difficulty, but I won't feel good about it if Blizzard ends up bowing to people complaining about loot and how hard some elite mobs are so that they nerf Inferno down to be about the equivalent of Nightmare difficulty.

It would be nice if they made Legendaries actually mean something (otherwise just remove them from the game) and also lower the cost just a little bit for both crafters. Other than that, I think the game is really awesome in its current form.

The problem with inferno difficulty is pretty simple, Act 1 is manageable provided you have decent gear and can kite, normal mobs don't hit too hard. However, when you hit Act 2, it's game over if you don't have over 700/800 in all resists. A single non elite mob can 3 shot you before you can realize it (when you have 70k HP / 20k DPS it hurts to be raped like that the 1st time, trust me xD)

The problem is exacerbated by the game's drop randomization engine, seeing the kind of balance in stats you need to progress, barely 1% of the rare drops you get fit what you need (out of the 150+ lvl60 items I"ve dropped so far, only one was useable on my Wizard)

Yeah, I finally got past the problem area/mobs I was getting killed by. First time my armor/gear broke in the game :p

Also, found my first legendary item! To bad I can't use it, put it up on the AH since the chat was filled with morons (I know, I should turn that off) at the time. And why is it that some blue items and especially yellow rare items are way, way better than legendary? I know Blizzard is addressing this in 1.03 and all, but geez.

I'm stuck in Act 2 Inferno as well. Just can't find the items for my Monk..... 26k Health, 5k armor, 12k damage, and only 370 all resist.... Yet I can't find anything that will help me further right now. Farming Act 1 for another day just to hopefully find 1 item that wont even help me in Act 2 just isn't worth it. I can't even get past the first quest in Act 2, due to regular mobs 1 hitting me, and the flying bugs that just fly away and right when you attack them, launch their little bugs in your face for a instant death.

I seriously believe that no one in Blizzard played Inferno past Act 1.

    • Microsoft updates Visual Studio Code with easier language model discovery and in-app search by Paul Hill Microsoft has released Visual Studio Code 1.125, its latest weekly release. This week, the company has focused on discovering and installing extra language models via the Marketplace; searching the web and securely browsing over remote connections without leaving VS Code; choosing how long VS Code waits before installing extension updates; and delivering managed Copilot settings through existing device management tooling. In older versions of VS Code, extensions could contribute their own model providers, but to find these extensions, you needed the right tags to search for in the Extension view. Now, the Language Models editor gives you an Install Model Providers button that opens the Extensions view, which is filtered to extensions that contribute model providers, making it easier to find and install them. Once you install a provider, its model will appear in the model picker. If you use the integrated browser much, you can now look up information without leaving VS Code by typing a query into the integrated browser’s address bar. It will use your configured search engine, the same way a standalone browser does. You can use workbench.browser.searchEngine to pick a search engine. When the browser is opened in a remote workspace, it's now possible to proxy HTTP(S) traffic via the remote connection. This allows you to connect to any ports or services that can only be accessed from the remote machine. If you read our coverage from two weeks ago about VS Code 1.123, you might have seen that extension updates have a two-hour delay as a safety measure. In this update, Microsoft is giving you the ability to configure the time of the delay. You can find it under extensions.autoUpdateDelay. Finally, with this update, admins can deliver managed GitHub Copilot settings through native device management (MDM) channels on Windows and macOS, in addition to account-based enterprise settings files. Settings delivered via MDM appear as policy-enforced in VS Code and can’t be overridden locally. Future updates will extend the supported policy keys across Copilot surfaces. You can download the update from the Visual Studio Code website now.

    • This is how much iPhone 18 Pro could cost after Apple's price hike confirmed by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed in a recent interview that the company may have to raise prices on some of its products due to the ongoing memory shortage. While he did not elaborate on the scale of the price hikes, new estimates suggest that Pro iPhone models could become significantly more expensive this fall. The Wall Street Journal and research firm TechInsights have come up with an educated estimate of how much the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro could cost after its launch in September. The estimate is based on current increases in memory and storage chip prices. For starters, the iPhone 18 Pro base model is expected to feature 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. According to TechInsights estimates, 12GB of DRAM for the iPhone 17 Pro cost Apple $39 last year. However, for the iPhone 18 Pro, the cost of the same amount of DRAM could soar to $145. Likewise, 256GB of flash storage that previously cost $13 could now cost around $51. Producing a base iPhone 17 Pro reportedly cost Apple around $582, but TechInsights estimates that the production cost of the iPhone 18 Pro could rise to $726. If Apple wants to maintain the roughly 47% profit margin it enjoys on the iPhone 17 Pro, the base price of the iPhone 18 Pro would need to reach $1,371. After standard pricing adjustments, customers could end up paying around $1,299 for the base model. However, that may not be the end of the story. As we previously reported, the iPhone 18 Pro is said to feature a variable-aperture lens, which could cost Apple at least 50% more than the current camera system. The estimated $1,299 price tag does not include the additional cost of this upgraded camera hardware. Once that expense is factored in, the base model could cost at least $1,399. A $1,399 price tag for the base iPhone 18 Pro would represent a significant increase over the current $1,099 starting price of the iPhone 17 Pro. If Apple wants to keep its upcoming iPhones competitive, it may need to accept lower profit margins.
