How many times you can enter a game? What does that mean exactly?

Say you are trying to 'farm' a dungeon.. say the Icey Caverns for some item to be used in the reciepe for the staff of Whimyshere. Now that Dungeon doesn't always appear. So you need to exit the game, and reload from the check point. Now it used to be an unlimited time you can go back in the game/start a game. Now you have to wait like 15mins to go back in instead of going in instantly. Does that answer your question?

Because people were heavily abusing the system to power level characters. Both hardcore and softcore. I was watching someone stream yesterday day and the person never left an outpost and gained 3-4 levels in about 20 minutes. From 50 to 54.

I've been reading the forum and apparently they released the real money auction house and when they release the gold auction house blizzard might potentially do a gold/equipment wipe. I would say this is another reason why the game needs an offline mode. The pathetic excuse that the always on drm will stop duping didn't actually stop duping.

Wait.. What? That's stupid. Why would they do the wipe? Gah. I've been always a supporter for D3 ever since launch. Now it's just giving me excuses to not play the game anymore.

Yeah, farming the whimsyshire staff now, if you didn't before.... Good damn luck. Lol.

Blizzard has really, really just screwed this game. This is by far possibly one of the biggest F-ups of a game in history, if you actually call it a full game, when it is most definitely a beta. Yet, somehow, EA still takes the cake as worst company.

Blizzard already got their millions of sales though. I guess I shouldn't actually be getting mad. I wish people would realize, as I said to friends before I ever bought it; it just feels like this game was all about the RMAH and them finding another way to make money. The more I see, the more it points to that, completely, and my speculation was correct.

I did get many hours of enjoyment out of it pre-Inferno/Auction House dependency. So, meh. And if my account sells on PlayerAuctions, I'll have gotten that gameplay for free. I'm just not touching another Blizzard game again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Never again.

Because people have been duping high end items and making billions of gold, apparently. Which of course would be a non-issue if they had made an offline mode from the start. All of these changes blizzard is making are designed to get us to spend money on the RMAH. That's all there is to it.

Indeed that explains it. Thanks.

This won't happen. Not even a 1% chance.

Doesn't change the fact that all the other changes blizzard has made recently and are making in the future (1.03 patch) are designed to get you to spend money on the RMAH. It doesn't matter how much you spend on the RMAH, it just matters how often you spend as they get $1 for transactions no matter how much is spent, $2 or $250. So increasing the drop rate of good items in inferno benefits blizzard the most in the end. It's actually kind of clever.

Also doesn't change the fact that people have already found ways to bypass blizzards drm to dupe items which people actually defended. The game has barely been out a month. I actually think there is a good chance of a gold/equipment wipe when you consider everything blizzard is doing.

I'm glad we finished farming all the mats for Whimyshere last weekend :D. But I think that the constant creation of new games by all the masses of people both farming levels and mats for Whimyshere were probably causing some server issues.

Honestly, though, the mats for Whimyshere should be more easy to obtain IMHO and from less specific things (so that checking the same spot over-and-over-again won't get you anywhere). The secret level isn't THAT secret anymore.

Honestly, I hope Blizzard makes diddly squat on the RMAH because I hope that people are smart enough to realize that simply having better items doesn't make the game any funner. The fun part of the game (for me) is when a better item drops and it is something you can use.

I hope that people don't waste any more real money on this game just so they can complete Inferno difficulty.... getting through Hell mode without using the AH is challenging enough for most IMHO.

To late for that. Stupid people will spare no expense to be and have "the best".

I would compare this to Battlefield 3 and DICE giving people the option to buy all upgrades and unlocks. However the difference is that blizzard seems to be making the game with the intended purpose that people actually use the RMAH to get anywhere in inferno. It's blatantly "buying power". I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it all. I haven't played in a few days to see how the RMAH has affected the regular AH and I have no intention of ever buying anything with real money. I already paid $60 for the game.

And then there is the fact that buying all upgrades and unlocks in BF3 has no effect on anyone's game but your own for the simple reason that the majority of people playing already have all the unlocks an upgrades, it doesn't matter if someone who is rank 3 buys them all. In D3 the RMAH is going to severely impact the game, especially when they release the pvp.

That's all speculation of course, but that's how I see things going. And none of that takes into consideration that eventually people will be able to buy and sell in game gold, eventually, too (at least I remember reading we would be able to).

I haven't checked out the real-money auction house yet but from what I've heard, the prices are outrageous. And I'm glad they are. I would prefer it if people earned gold in game to spend on items rather than simply buying them with real money. I was shocked today when I learned that a friend of a friend spent $600 on an item.

Are you sure? Because I read there is a $250 limit per item. Either way, $250 or $600, he's still an idiot for spending that much money on pixels.

Still it's pay 2 win at it's finest. Something gamers have been saying they are against in games for years and here it is in it's most blatant form that we've ever seen. Especially since blizzard is planning on adding competitive pvp to the game. I don't know who is more to blame for this, the players, for putting stuff on sale for obscene amounts of money, or blizzard for capitalizing on peoples greediness and their need to be and have "the best".

Seriously? Wow... that is insane. Like trag3dy said, even $250 is an outrageous amount of money to spend on an in-game item. I don't have a problem with in-game purchases if they're done in a somewhat tasteful manner (I've already dropped $20 in Tribes: Ascend, though even that implementation is hardly flawless), but I guess some people (hopefully a very small subset of the player base) are just that indifferent towards the fact that they're being swindled.

I may like this RMAH... Yesterday I made my first $1.50 :p I threw some more items up for around $5 and trying a rare pants I found for $20. Just fishing the waters to see what the stupid will bite at. But if I can get, hopefully thinking, a $1.50 a day... Diablo can pay for my once a month Theater Movie outing :)

If someone is crazy (read: stupid) enough to drop $250 of real world $$$ for an item, let them. It's their money to spend (read: waste). Only time will tell if this RMAH causes big issues on the technical level or on the game level. I'm more curious to see what effect it has on the gold-based AH. Many people might only put the uber gear on the RMAH and the normal AH might become the cesspool of crap items.

I personally would have no issues paying like $5 for something pretty swanky. $250, not so much, well frickin' no way.

The prices on the RMAH are really high because people are trying to figure out how much others are willing to pay for digital goods. It's pathetic and sad that some are willing to spend $250 on a digital item that will probably be out-leveled as soon as there is an expansion.

In my opinion, the auction houses (both of them) completely undermine the entire point of playing a game like Diablo. But sadly, Blizzard made it mandatory to use the AH if you want to progress. They say it's optional, but it's not.

The drop rate of items relevant to your level or the level of the things you're killing is so low (in my opinion it's 0%) that you can't farm your own items past a certain point. That point for me was part way through Act 4 on Nightmare. I just could not for the life of me kill Rakanoth with the gear that I amassed up to that point. I even tried farming latter parts of Act 3 and the beginning of Act 4 for a few hours and literally nothing within 10 levels of me dropped. That, to me, is the biggest problem with Diablo 3.

I really, really want to like the game. And if I go purely by the hours I have played it, I definitely got my money's worth. But, the fact that the drop rates are specifically designed to make you HAVE to use the AH, it just kills all enjoyment I get of these types of games. And this particular issue will never be fixed because it would completely negate the need for an AH.

I know patch 1.03 will supposedly change level 60 drop rates for Inferno gear, but it does even touch drop rates up to that point. I really thought Diablo 3 was going to take up all of my free time from release to several years after like D2 did. But, a month later, I'm pretty much done with the game. I've already played through normal and nightmare on several characters, and each time got stuck around the same place. Some characters were easier and I could get a bit farther, but with all of them I hit walls in early Hell. I tried farming with no success. So I had to buy a few things off the AH. (weapons mostly) But when that happens, it usually kills any drive I had to keep going through Hell mode. At this point I have 4 characters in Act 1 Hell, but I don't feel like playing any of them.

It's disappointing to say the least.

You could always "trade" the items.....keep track of all the money you make from selling things in the AH, and use that money and only that money t o buy items that help you get through the content. Honestly while yes the AH is "required" for certain content, it's no different then getting stuck at a point in D2 and having to trade with others to get what you need.

I agree with your sentiment!

The AH does undermine the entire point of the game! I don't think that it is currently required to progress through at least Hell difficulty. I'm working on a Wizard now and seeing how far I can get w/o any AH items. I had purchased some items for my Barb in nightmare and at the beginning of act 1 of hell, but actually completed hell mode without buying another single item and at the end of Hell I was using all gear that had dropped. What really, really helps is to play with a buddy and both look out for loot for each other. Also keep an eye out for level 50+ items for any alts...

I do hope that Blizzard bumps up the item level drops by at least 5 levels. Right now about 1 out of 10 drops isn't even close to a level you need. Out of those that are, probably another 1 out of 50 has stats worth a damn to any particular class. So out of those only 1/5 will be good for you. Its killing me man!!!

According to the open letter, “this action has taken the best models away from [cybersecurity] defenders” who now can’t use the models to find vulnerabilities and make their software and products more secure. “To pull the best capabilities away from defenders without a good reason when our adversaries are rapidly advancing is dangerous,” read the letter. On Friday, the U.S. government ordered Anthropic to limit the export of Fable and Mythos, citing national security concerns, without explaining the specific reasons behind the order, according to Anthropic. In response, the company suspended access to the models to all users worldwide.     https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/15/cybersecurity-vets-protest-dangerous-us-government-ban-on-anthropics-most-powerful-models/
