Please note: The website formerly known as Googlegear.com is not now and has never been associated with Google Inc., and is now zipzoomfly.com.

That is the redirect you get from going to googlegear.com, http://www.google.com/googlegear.html, seems google took over their URL and made googlegear.com change its name to ZipZoomFly.com

I always wondered if google would let this store keep that name, I guess it was just a matter of time before it was changed.

Founded in 1998 and formerly named Googlegear, we had an initial goal to carry a vast and seemingly endless supply of assorted products. We've decided to change our name because it no longer represents our very concentrated focus: performance computer upgrades with no frills. We're not going to try to sell you a toaster oven or a telephone to go along with your computer purchase, because that's not what we're the best at. We're the best at selling computer parts at incredible prices, and that's what we'll continue to do.

"ZipZoomFly" is a tribute to the speed at which computer technology moves, as well as a symbol of our commitment to stay on top of this technology. According to Moore's Law, microprocessor performance DOUBLES every 18-24 months, and along with that, the performance of all other components. We promise to Zip, Zoom, and Fly along with the speed of technology so that we'll always be bringing you the latest and greatest parts and accessories for your computer system!

That is what they say in their "About Us", They make no reference to google making them change it, but why else would their old URL redirect to google then supply a link to their new site?

Maybe news worthy maybe not... (sry if posted before, trying to get in the "main news" hehe)

they changed it becuase too many people were confusing thinking that store was associated with google search engine.

i'm sure both sites were getting many inquiries regarding this issue

and finally ZipZoomFly desided to change their name to be more unique.

but i doubt this is news worthy

    • Wikipedia has become hot molasses with mostly filth masquerading as truth. Most of it is the imagination of few writers who think of themselves as above god. The narrative setup is mind boggling.

    • No. 1/10th the cost of a Mac? The Mini starts at 599. What mini-pc costs 1/10th of that? The OS is nothing like macOS. Sure you can make it look like it, but it won’t work anything like it. Applications won’t install, or remove the same. Application compatibility will be different. Managing the OS is completely dissimilar, the biggest common ground will be a few CLI utilities. You can definitely get yourself an inexpensive little setup that has a good Linux distro and be happy. It won’t be 1/10th the cost or essentially a Mac though.
