I love this game. I beat it four times already. I started as a knight but now all my stats are roughly even (between 30 and 50).

A couple of non-technical critiques:

The AI is stupid. Unbelievably stupid. They'll walk right off edges. They'll jump attack you without considering whether or not they have something to land on. They'll stand there and let you shoot them to death with arrows (depends on your distance). Several bosses can be killed by getting them to fall suicide (Ceaseless Discharge, Ash Lake Hydra, Iron Golem, and Taurus Demon) and two bosses are complete non-threats (Gaping Dragon and Seathe).

A lot of covenants are redundant. Join covenant. Invade people to get some item. They should of had either had equipment restrictions or some side-quests. For example, maybe joining the Dragon Covenant would restrict you to dragon weapons and being in dragon form.

A lot of weapons are a complete waste of time to upgrade. They could have done a better job making weapons within the same class be competitive with each other. If an upgraded unique weapon is going to be weaker on average than a upgraded common weapon then it should at least have some sort of bonus like stamina regeneration, bleeding, poison, or a special attack.

New Game+ should have more enemies. Making them stronger isn't really cutting it for me.

Trying to get enemies to drop Titanite Slab (regular, blue and red) is almost impossible. I think I'm better off starting a NG+.

Titanite Slab has a rare drop from Wraithknights in New Londo Ruins. Blue can drop from Crystal Butterflies in Crystal Caves. Red can drop from Chaos Eaters in Lost Izalith.

I've been playing as human majority of my game and have yet to have any MP encounters. Is that pretty much the only reason to be non-hollowed? I'm also not really grasping my pyro character but I'm ignorant  How do I start using the fireball? I could have sworn I had it in the early stage but now (still at the Burg) it's not working?

I have to admit, I'm being really limited on my DS play time right now for two reasons. One, there is no pause and I have a 2 1/2 year old. Doesn't jive. And I can't seem to pull away from FO3. I do love DS though, I will be playing this game for a long, long time (I've read numerous threads of DS complaints on other sites but its been way enjoyable for me even though I'm still early on).

I've been trying those but they don't drop them. With the ring and 30 humanities. Also trying to get the Ghost Dagger from the only two female ghost in the game and no luck. :/

I've had one drop for me in about 5 runs. Guess I was lucky! So I can confirm they will drop, eventually... Only got 2 chunks, so even those take ages to drop.

Also, Lost lzalith can suck my nut sack.

LOL, Lost Izalith is the part of the game where you realize, " I want to live in Blighttown, just as long as I never have to step foot into LI again!." Even with my over powered Pyro, LI was a pain.

I've hit a low point in the game. I'm stuck on PVP. I'm on NG+ with my pryo, and I just teleport to the Andor Londo town, run to the massive cathedral hallway, and just set down a cracked red crystal and have at it. It is extremely fun and very annoying. Fun because it doesn't take long to get someone to invade, but annoying because it can become quickly unbalanced as I will be fighting 1 guy, only to have 2 others invade me and then I'm battling 3 guys who I will eventually die to 1 of them lol. I would fancy it a lot more if there was some sort of communication to be had with those I was PVPing. I have fought some of the same people over and over, and head a real good time. I wish there was a easier way to make a community out of such experiences with Dark Souls.

Chucks are easy to get in Kiln. Slab are a pain. I started NG+ so I'll get the ones I need to finish my weapon upgrades. Almost platinum just 2 miracles, 3 weapon upgrades and rare weapons trophy but that last one is going to take a while.

Yeah Lost Izalith sucks. I hate those half dragon things (or whatever that is).

WOW Four Kings are impossible in NG+ I spent hours yesterday trying to beat them and with help and I couldn't.

Iron Flesh + Great Combustion / Combustion / Any other offensive pyromancy

On an unrelated subject, today I discovered that it's possible for weapons to have completely inferior stats to another yet deal more damage. For example, the Balder Side Sword does 35 more damage per hit than a Longsword. The Longsword's attack rating is equal or higher in every case (with my character's stats). Apparantly each when has a hidden modifier possibly tied to the amount of stamina consumed per swing. Need to investigate this more.

Please do. Me and my friend were wondering this as well. This game just doesn't have things for the sake of filler. Everything is there for a reason it seems. So it wouldn't make sense for them to just have all these weapons, but have a select few be "the weapons" to use.

I actually did that after I posted here and beat them in my second try. Without Iron Flesh they killed me with just two hits.

I restarted as a sorcerer, just on my way to Senns Fortress now. Patch 1.04 is hitting today for Japan, fixes a load of issues and exploits apparently. We should have it within the week in EU/US.

Is there a site with patch notes as to what they are changing and fixing?

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2.
