PRIVATE FORUMS -- Xbox LIVE Update Preview Program

Connect with others in the program today: (Login to your dashboard for link)

Who Can Access:

As a registered member of the Public Preview Program, these forums are now available for you to discuss the program with others that are also registered. These are restricted forums so people outside of the preview program will not be able to access the content. The GamerTag that you used to register into the program is the only authorized participant.

Frequently Asked Question:

Q. Why can't I access the Private Forum link above?

A. The Private Forums require us to use the GamerTag you provided during program registration. Make sure you are using that GamerTag.

If you are still unable to access it, likely there was a typo when you submitted it or you'd never previously accessed the regular xbox.com forums. Below are some steps to get you fixed up:

1. Log into xbox.com and post in the standard forums so that you create a presence within the forums

2. Resubmit your GamerTag via the survey section on Connect

Once submitted it takes ~5 business days for us to update the permissions for you to access the Private Forums

This is all I get when I click the link and when I try going to Community>Forums it just sits there and never loads. I have not been able to load the forums in months.... This link just does not work for me http://forums.xbox.com/

its working for me , maybe they are slowly rolling it out , you could always check to see if you entered your gamertag right on the survey.

It's right, I have not been able to access the forums for as long as I can remember. Every time I try to go there from the main site it just sits their and says it loads and never shows up. Only site I have problems with.

Check you dashboards ;)

Update 10/17/2011

"...but sharing specific information about the program is a violation of the program agreement"

Not sure if that's a public FAQ or not, but don't you think that copying and pasting entire sections of the Connect website to a public forum falls under the category of "specific information about the program"? :-)

Not really sharing anything that is public knowledge, I have not shared any links or program specific details about the dashboard update so I will have to say no. ;)

I'd have to disagree. I'd say information from the private connect portal definitely falls into the category "specific information about the program" :)

Who cares though, chances are they won't even notice. Just don't be copying anything else and pasting it here or you'll face the wrath of the evil minions of Microsoft :)

The updates aren't public knowledge, even if you don't include the links. Microsoft has kicked people out of the updates before (removed their connection abilities), so I wouldn't recommend it.

Does the new dashboard do anything new with the Network selection? I connect between two different wireless networks and it's a hassle having to retype the password in everytime I make a switch. Why can't there be a checkbox for it to remember it?

We cannot discuss anything during the preview program, plus we still have not been registered to get the update. Still waiting for them to get our console IDs so they can push the update. ;)

The program is no longer depending on a console ID, but on your gamertag instead. And yes, people are already registered for the update if they can access the private forums on Xbox.com (go to the connect site, you should be able to navigate from there) ;)

They've never stated that. See my posts on the previous pages. Console IDs weren't used in the sign-up process to make the process easier. That doesn't mean we don't have to input them to get the update later on.

actually when they are ready we will have to enter console id's. its in one of the pages on the connect site.

Over the next few weeks? It's been over two weeks since this started! Seems to me that the only reason they're doing this is to have fewer consoles to update at once come the release day. It's a bit underwhelming :(

    • Still using Classic Outlook? Microsoft highlights 15 reasons to switch to New Outlook by Usama Jawad As many of you may know, Microsoft has been trying to get customers to ditch Classic Outlook in favor of New Outlook for quite some time now. To that end, it has added numerous capabilities to the latter, including PST features, and it is working on several more, such as a unified inbox. However, customer response has been a bit lukewarm so far, with many considering the New Outlook to be "hot garbage". Now, Microsoft has highlighted 15 features that users can leverage in New Outlook in yet another attempt to get customers to migrate. Although not all of the 15 capabilities are exclusive to New Outlook, in fact, most of them are available in Classic Outlook as well. But Microsoft hopes that this combination of familiar and fresh features will be able to attract existing users as well as new ones. For ease of readability, we have summarized the 15 features below: Pin an email: This makes it easier to track important emails Snooze an email: You can temporarily snooze an email thread for a specific time frame until it becomes relevant again. This can be very useful in scenarios where you don't feel like actively following a thread or simply want to follow up on a later date Add multiple categories at the same time: You can assign multiple categories to an email through a single, simplified interface Sweep: As the name implies, you can define automated move processes on your inbox to declutter it, rather than cleaning it up manually Schedule send: Does exactly what it says on the tin, and can be useful when accommodating recipients in different timezones Simplified folder sharing: The sharing process has been simplified so permissions are automatically applied on parent folders Follow a meeting: This is an RSVP option that lets people know that you won't be able to join the meeting but would still like to access a recap Save calendar views: You can save different views for the calendar based on different workflows Improved meeting tracking: Organizers have more controls in viewing meeting responses, such as the ability to sort and download them. Typically useful when there is a large audience Meeting recap: The Outlook Calendar surfaces a meeting recap with recordings, transcripts, and shared files Filtered views: Allows you to declutter your Calendar so that it's easier to scan and schedule Change a recurring event: Users can modify future events of a series of meetings while preserving the configuration of previous ones Rename your email account: This labeling makes it easier to identify multiple accounts in Outlook Modern themes: Exactly what the name says, plus Dark Mode Keyboard shortcuts: This facilitates flexible user behavior as customers can choose between Outlook for Windows shortcuts, Outlook for the web, or turn them off completely There you have it. It's a decent list, but it remains to be seen if it will move the needle in a meaningful way for users who are attached to Classic Outlook. Again, a lot of the aforementioned features are already available in Outlook Classic, but for some, native functionality is not present, and people typically resort to workarounds. Microsoft will be hoping that it's primarily those capabilities that get people to finally switch.

    • LibreWolf 151.0.3-1 by Razvan Serea LibreWolf is an independent “fork” of Firefox, with the primary goals of privacy security and user freedom. It is the community run successor to LibreFox. LibreWolf is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements. This is achieved through our privacy and security oriented settings and patches. LibreWolf also aims to remove all the telemetry, data collection and annoyances, as well as disabling anti-freedom features like DRM. LibreWolf features: Latest Firefox — LibreWolf is compiled directly from the latest build of Firefox Stable. You will have the the latest features, and security updates. Independent Build — LibreWolf uses a build independent of Firefox and has its own settings, profile folder and installation path. As a result, it can be installed alongside Firefox or any other browser. No phoning home — Embedded server links and other calling home functions are removed. In other words, minimal background connections by default. User settings updates Extensions firewall: limit internet access for extensions. Strip tracking elements from URLs, both natively and through uBO. Enable dFPI, also known as Total Cookie Protection. Enable RFP which is part of the Tor Uplift project. RFP is considered the best in class anti-fingerprinting solution, and its goal is to make users look the same and cover as many metrics as possible, in an effort to block fingerprinting techniques. Always display user language as en-US to websites, in order to protect the language used in the browser and in the OS. Disable WebGL, as it is a strong fingerprinting vector. Prevent access to the location services of the OS, and use Mozilla's location API instead of Google's API. Limit ICE candidates generation to a single interface when sharing video or audio during a videoconference. Force DNS and WebRTC inside the proxy, when one is being used.
