[update] New Xbox Dashboard preview now avaiable

Mathachew, you're treading on unstable ground posting that picture mate. That screenshot is confidential information which you agreed not to release to anybody not in the program when you signed the NDA.

hardly it's just a notification.

the dashboard isn't even downloaded yet at that point.

any one looking for a download dont bother this beta is useless with out the servers. so you cant play anything not multiplayer or the single player.

i played multiple matches of its horde mode and 2 sections of its campaign, unless they take the servers down off and on

they have taken the servers offline probaley to stop the leak i doubt they will come back up till the multiplayer demo. when you try and play singleplayer you get " you must be connected to EA network to play this demo"

ahh, i didnt play long, felt to Gears Of Warish

Try reading the agreement you signed up to... it says releasing information about "preview program materials", not just the dashboard update itself. The private mechanism for submitting your console information IS preview program materials, whether you like it or not :)

Now, whether Microsoft actually care about these kind of breaches is entirely a different question, but you won't find me risking it.

So is this going to be the most pointless preview program in history? Isn't the official release date about a week from now? Still no changes...

There is NO official release date. The last thing I read officially from Microsoft was that they were targeting (ie. date is not set in stone) the end of the year.

Oh and why would a EA + BioWare game beta "accidentally" end up being pushed with an update for dashboard? Surely it's a planned publicity stunt.

Because there's an internal beta of the new dashboard, and the Mass Effect 3 testing is being run on it. Possibly because it requires stuff in the new dashboard? I don't think it's that hard to imagine.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
    • I have been using Firefox for years.
    • I'd trust open source stuff on github more then closed source binaries from Microsoft.
