Out of those 2 I would choose the Nexus Prime, its not really even a debate.

But overall I always stick with HTC, I have since day 1 starting with G1 Dream then the Hero....I switched to Samsung Galaxy S after and did not like the experience at all, didn't like touchwiz, had a lousy dev community compared to most HTC devices, lag etc...got rid of the Galaxy S after a couple of weeks and went back to HTC (G2/Vision/Desire Z) and don't think I will switch again until HTC disappoints me which it hasn't yet.

I was very excited about the Prime, but somehow I am not so sold on it any more. It is the small things that get me, like it is not AMOLED Plus screen, or that it does not use Gorilla Glass. I am just worried that they have skimped out on other things as well.

Beyond that it would be Nexus Prime for me.

I voted for the Galaxy S 2. I have the phone and it's awesome, but the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have expandable storage, and that's a deal breaker for me. I have a 32GB card in my SGS2, so now I have 48GB of total storage. The 1280x720p screen isn't really a big deal when we're talking about a screen that's less than 5" anyway. The Super AMOLED+ screen on the SGS2 looks amazing as it is. Also, I'm not a fan of the software buttons on the Galaxy Nexus either. I'd rather have the standard capacitive touch buttons.

Reasons to choose SGS2 over GN: micro sd support, better cpu and gpu, Super AMOLED Plus screen w/ rgb stripe subpixel layout (even at a lower resolution), size, probably better battery life

Reasons to choose GN over SGS2: Comes with ICS (even though SGS2 will get ICS), 720p (pentile) screen, Nexus phone (AOSP)

Winner: SGS2

No worries, SGS2 will get ICS very soon, then the only advantage of the Nexus is an arguably better screen, and AOSP. I'd hold off for a real 720p screen if I were you.

I voted SGS2 because while I like the Nexus devices, the new one doesn't seem worth it so much anymore. I like the size of my SGS2 and I think that's basically the only reason. LOL. I don't need MicroSD and the + screen doesn't do me much better. I am just happy with this phone and I like physical buttons!

Galaxy Nexus just because it doesn't have the garbage they call Touchwiz. Plus, the "Google-branded" phones get updated with the latest and greatest.

The latest version of TouchWiz is actually pretty good if you haven't used it. Not to mention you can just download LauncherPro and be done, or if you want, use a different ROM that's the latest and greatest.

The Galaxy Nexus Prime, since it's the Android 4 reference phone without any fugly Sense/TouchWiz junk.

Well it can flash cm to get stock android? it is better to have stuffs made by OEM at least it might have some advantages you want. One example is the Galaxy S2. If you compare any other non-samsung phones and stock android, their browser is not as smooth as their. That includes other dual cores. Samsung seems to have added hardware acceleration to both its TouchWiz launcher and browser.

I won't choose any of them

But for the topic' sake Galaxy Nexus > Galaxy S II

Purely because of Vanilla Android and 720p screen

same.. but I kinda choose the Nokia N9 over either.. :^)

Get the SGS2. PenTile Matrix displays suck.

Under a microscope probably. But can the average person really tell the difference? I can almost guarantee you they can't; unless some tells them the difference. I can't even tell a difference between a non pentile screen and one that is, even though I know there is one.

I'd go for the Galaxy Nexus. 16GB (or 32) of onboard storage negates the need for SD cards and it has a 720p screen. Plus its a Google Phone, meaning its practically guaranteed to be have timely updates.

It has been said earlier by some but no harm in giving my $0.02

I would hands down go for the Samsung Galaxy S2 because you get a tougher screen (Gorilla Glass), more power-efficient screen technology (Super AMOLED Plus on the S2 vs HD Super AMOLED on Nexus even though the nexus has HD resolution), slightly better battery (by about 100mAh), better camera system (1.3MP front / 5MP rear on the Nexus vs 2MP / 8MP back-illuminated sensor on the S2), no expandable storage on the Nexus, lower cost.

Bottom line, the Samsung Galaxy S2 in my opinion is the clear winner and while you can't go wrong with either, you have more advantages with the S2.
