Direction connection file sharing

Question

Well, I bought a 10 ft cross-over parallel cable to make direction connection between my Inspiron 8100 laptop and my desktop (both running Windows xp pro), so that I can share files between the two computers. My question is how do I setup both computers so that I can share files among the two, like using Windows Explorers to drag and drop or even synchronize files between the two?

Currently, I set my desktop as a host and my laptop as a guest. Both computers are on public LAN, but I only desire to share files locally between the two, not open to other users on the same workgroup.

windows commander can swap files between puters using parallel cable.

but it will be alot slower then thru lan.

make dir where you will drop your files, go to security setting for that dir and give yourself full control and everybody else deny access.
