Really? And why is that? Seems to be working OK over here. But if you know one which is better, please share that information.

ImgFTW seems down. Imageshack is horribly slow...

Imageshack is working perfectly fine here as well, but here's some more free photo hosts for you all to try ( I have and they work great ):

Next step... buy a nice set of blinds... I should tidy the cables a bit more too. Also, I need a new chair, I hate this colour. White filing cabinets too. Also a nice light. Otherwise, I'm quite happy wit hit :p

Also, I always use localhostr. Nice app and if you can get an account, it's even more useful.

Thanks! ImgBox is working like a charm, like the interface. Almost identical to ImgFTW. Simple and effective. :)

BTW is that an external soundcard or a mediaplayer I see next to your monitor? Still looking for a nice external soundcard.

Thanks for the URL.

What type of lights did you use between your desk / wall? Are those LED strips by any change? Looks nice. :)

I'm guessing he used something like 'DIODER' lighting strips available from your local IKEA store

Wouldn't go as far as to call IKEA "local" :p Most of the time your closest will be an hour away.

I bought the 2600K for $200 at micro center on the 2 day special, I feel that it's a fair MSRP compared to what Intel normally charges. I keep forgetting what CPU prices use to be during Pentium 4 and Athlon 64 days.

My home workstation. This is pretty much its day-to-day state. I do like to try and keep it tidier but when its in constant use it tends to get a bit messy. The cable management also needs some serious work but its not intrusive so I keep putting it off until I have time to sort it (No excuse, I know!).

Workstation. Thinking of selling the LCD arm and monitor and going dual screen. (Excel for dummies book is not mine. The teddy however, is.)

Left, main machine. Right, arcade machine.

My HP Microserver, old Cambridge Audio amp and some very messy cabling.

My home office - still running my almost 5yrs old ThinkPad T61p which has been upgraded - SSD, 500GB 2nd HDD and 4GB RAM. I'm also running a HP Microserver to backup this as well as my other half's laptop (ThinkPad X121e).

Randy, that room looks pretty sweet. Do you have any blinds/curtains on that window?

Thanks. Yes there is a rollerblind that comes down. I also have some solar film on the window glass so it keeps the room cool and during the day I can see out but noone can see in :)

It is hard to say what it cost me, I got the steel for free and the chair for free from work as they were throwing them out but I had to buy a lot of tools to finish the job and paint, consumables etc so I would estimate about $1500 but almost none of it is on the actual desk.

I really don't think there would be a market for something like this, it was just something to make while I taught myself to weld (I work in IT). The chair is very heavy and although I have a design in my head for a more refined version that is also made of wood, I won't have the time to make it for a while as I have other projects that need tending to.

I have a playlist of videos I made during the build, you can see how it started out as a really terrible idea and evolved to something better.

Cheers.

I'd buy it in a heart-beat :D

On a side note, everyone has this extra clean look but I got all these cables running around everywhere :(

    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
