MS has been enforcing its NDA a lot more strictly this time, even fired a couple of employees that leaked an early pre-alpha build last year. Doubt anyone will take the chance again after that incident and jeopardize their status in the development. The only releases we are going to get our hands on is the official ones.

There's some kind of leak doing the rounds today...

Scene group *** released Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of the very latest operating system Microsoft Windows 8. This is beyond my own expectations as it?s sooner than I personally expected. Still, I highly recommend everyone to test this first in a VIRTUAL environment before applying it to your WORKING/LIVE environment. I warned you, enjoy!

Description: Windows 8 is the codename for the next version of the Microsoft Windows computer operating system following Windows 7. It has many changes from previous versions. In particular it adds support for ARM microprocessors in addition to the previously supported x86 microprocessors from Intel and AMD. A new Metro-style interface has been added that was designed for touchscreen input in addition to mouse keyboard, and pen input.

Of course I'm not gonna post a link, don't want a ban :)

Don't see how it can be an RC since the beta hasn't even been released but from all reports, it's the same WP build but you can update it to the most recent which they claim is RC1.

more from the .nfo file..

?? ???

??? ? 1. Unpack. ? ???

??? ? 4. You'll notice that it's called "DEVELOPER PREVIEW" but ? ???

??? ? go online using the WINDOWS UPDATER and run an update, ? ???

??? ? and then the updated system will become a RELEASE CANDIDATE. ? ???

??? ? 5. Enjoy this early release preview. ? ???

??? ?

So.. install is done.. it looks like the dev previews, currently installing all the windows updates...

edit, I picked bad settings with first install (virtual box) doing a fresh install for better response.

Have a great feeling the is a huge hoax.. lol thanks firey for being the tester

lol reminds me of the old Pokemon hoax people would put out in the internet.. go here and go back and fourth for 2 hours and you'll find a hidden Pokemon.. lol

also, why would they make you install a old copy and use windows update to upgrade to a newer build? Unless they are changing the way betas are being done which is possible.. this could be some build from an internal tester that has a special switch somewhere turned on..

Again, this all seems highly unlikely..

EDIT: Someone on another forum says this works. Could be troll.

If the nfo is true why cant someone running the dev build just run windows update and have RC. Why would you have to download a pirated version of the dev copy to do it?

this could be a special build only used for internals.

will update it a second.

I'm not sure why, but it's really not playing well with VirtualBox, I have a hell of a time getting it to boot, and then times where it will boot, but stop doing anything as it is loading.

Well, as far as I can tell..I am still in the dev preview, it's still same build and is M3, the only change is the build date string. The build string says 110912. I have 3 updates for defender that refuse to work, says they are installed, but they never go away.

    • Glad im on the right boat. Tidal has lots of issues in terms of app and music mix, its worst than spot but its honest. Spot algo is very tendentious and they pess less to artists, so im comfortable with the tidal errors, for now.
    • Tidal won't monetize AI slop music, company says by David Uzondu Image via Tidal Tidal has announced an AI policy aimed at protecting artists and their crafts, as AI music generation tools continue to improve both in speed and quality. According to the music streaming platform, AI-generated music will be accepted, but these tracks will be held to a "higher standard" of content integrity. Next month, the company plans to auto-identify and tag these uploads. Listeners will spot a special icon next to content that algorithms flag as 100% AI-generated starting mid-July, and the platform hopes to expand this tag to partially generated songs as detection tech improves. Any AI music that exploits an artist's voice or likeness will be taken down, and Tidal will immediately block tracks associated with fraudulent activity, which includes artificial streaming and deceptive content that interferes with real creators. And finally, music that's 100% AI-generated will not be monetized. Tidal said there is "ongoing debate" about whether certain licensed synthetic models deserve payouts, so it's possible that this part will change in the future. Streaming platforms are absolutely getting flooded with AI-generated music because of how easy it is to pump out endless tracks every minute. To give you an idea of how "bad" it is, Deezer alone reported that synthetic uploads now make up about 44% of its daily intake, which translates to roughly 75,000 automated tracks hitting its servers every single day. Interestingly, Deezer found most people cannot tell the difference between human and machine creations, with an Ipsos study revealing that 97% of listeners failed to spot the AI-generated tracks. Spotify's CEO recently pushed back against listeners who call AI music "slop," urging people to stop using the term and instead embrace the creative potential of AI music. The Swedish platform partnered with Universal Music Group to test "legal and controlled" generative AI tools that let subscribers remix songs with AI.
