How to customize the Windows-Classic Theme ?

Recommended Posts

Hi :)

First I want to say "sorry" for my bad english :)

As you can see this is my first posting here in the neowin forum ...

I have a question about customizing the windows classic theme.

I just want to change the icon on the startbutton and the icons for "Loging Off" and "Shuting Down".

How do I make that?

I would be very grateful, if someone helps me :)

I want that it looks like on this screenshot.

You can change them within the shell32.dll. Use resource hacker or Microangelo Librarian.

Wrong, they're in explorer.exe. Here's the bitmaps for the logoff and shutdown as well as the custom flag. They're numbered and easy enough to replace:

If you're unfamiliar with replacing system files:

Replacer is your god.

Result :)

Did you manage to change the logoff and turn off buttons?

Instructions:

* First of all copy explorer.exe to your desktop (It's in your windows folder)

* Download Reshacker and open explorer.exe in it

* In Reshacker go to action - replace bitmap and then browse for bitmap 176 which I uploaded and replace

* Do the same for the other bitmaps

* Save explorer.exe

* Use Replacer to replace explorer.exe and remember to make a backup

* Logoff and log back on (or restart)

Would it be that hard to make a MSStyle out of GANT Classic? It's quite pretty, and I think a lot more people would use it if it was easier to install. Make sense?
