Activision Confirms New Call of Duty in 2012

Recommended Posts

During its 4th Quarter earnings call today, Activision confirmed that a new Call of Duty game will be coming in 2012.

This comes as no surprise since the franchise has seen new titles annually and Modern Warfare 3 has made over a billion dollars. Still, this marks the first time that Activision has plainly stated that a new Call of Duty game will be released this year.

No information on the title was revealed. Previously, reports suggested that Activision may be prepping Black Ops 2, though that hasn't been confirmed. Sledgehammer has been hiring for a new Call of Duty game, and Infinity Ward is working on a next-gen Call of Duty.

More information from Activision's earnings call will be coming shortly.

I must be in a minority on the forums as i like the series. Its mindless with a flimsey plot but i generally find the experience high quality compared to a lot of other quick fill FPS games. The Story and gameplay on BF3 was weak however this is a series which started with multiplayer only so i wasn't under any illusion, apart from that we don't really have many war like FPS's left, Deus Ex, The Darkness 2 are all great FPS's however sometimes i just want to play a war type FPS in the game way i can switch off and watch a blockbuster such as die hard.

Ive played all of the CoD series games and have enjoyed them all

Of course you've enjoyed them all, it's the same game.

at some point one of these developers is going to have to throw a curve ball and change the COD game. the WW2 series was played out, and now the modern warfare series is played out. They need something new and especially need a new graphics engine. time for some DX11, high res everything. you can still dumb it down for the masses, but at least give the option to those die hard computer geeks.

"Call of Duty: Civil War" anyone? wouldnt that be riveting. watch as your character takes 10-15 seconds to reload his rifle! prepare bayonets and storm those southern *******!

Well golly gee wiz, I didn't see that one coming...

I've still not bought MW3. Sadly I'm going to have to bite the bullet sometime soon because my friend likes the survival mode. I guess it's alright for some quick fun.

EDIT: WTF, MW3 is still ?30 on Amazon?! Hell no, I can wait a while longer.

I don't understand the hate surrounding the series. I've enjoyed them all. I guess it's the cool thing to hate on something popular.

If someone dislikes something, they think they are cool.... I don't like specific types of food, yet I don't go trolling on the food network forums about how horrible I think it is.

If someone likes the games, and the sequels then let them be, they aren't bothering anyone.

Consoles. Until they upgrade the hardware all they can do is make minor tweaks to the engine.

It's not that people hate it exactly. They hate that it's basically the same exact game ever year. Like.. I played Modern Warfare 3 three years ago, but back then it was called Modern Warfare 2.

Yeah, EA does it with their sports games, but I don't buy or play those either. (N)

i still enjoy the games. i realize anymore theyre all the same, but i like fps'. i like COD's hectic atmosphere. im going to play MW3 eventually but i still havent bought it. i have so many other games to play first.

I actually think the COD series has been incredibly tight over the years. Always enjoy the SP like a popcorn flick, and I do think the MP is a well oiled machine, it just got boring to me and once Battlefield came out, that was more my cup of tea. But they obviously do something right. Millions of people do not play the MP because it is bad. But they will beat the series into a bloody pulp and destroy it, Activision has a knack for doing just that, but not before they milk it for everything it is worth and then some.

I'll be getting Battlefield 3 soon but having gotten MW2 when i finally got an Xbox (again³) I actually liked the SP style game play, short little episodes if you will. :) I got MW3 finished that one as well but MP just isn't my style I guess. I played a few rounds and it was fun but not like Halo series (yes i know, :p) I guess i'm probably more of a TPS type too as I love Gears MP style. I didn't play Black Ops yet but tried the demo and liked it so i'll be getting the game, if nothing else for the SP :)

While I personally don't like CoD, I do understand why other people do. I like Street Fighter, and I've bought just about every SF release over the years, I've preordered SFxT and when they release Super/Ultimate SFxT I'll most likely get that as well. The reason being that I like the series and I also like the competitive multiplayer. In order to stay competitive I pretty much have to buy the latest release. So if CoD fans want to keep up with their CoD friends and keep up with the competition I imagine they feel compelled to buy the latest release in the series. I know a couple people who feel that MW3 is pretty bad compared to MW2 but they play it anyway because that's what all of their friends are playing.

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
