I always thought that the green guy told him to get up and that was a warning shot (I thought he would get more of a bounty if caught alive) -- but he did not know Han had his pistol out.... just a thought... but I never knew that there was a squabble about that one..

Has no one here seen the originals?!

I know right?

I can't believe George keeps going out of his way to ruin something that was made so long ago. Leave it be. Stop editing it.

Did it ever occur to anyone that the reason why everyone thinks Han shot first was because the footage was incomplete and cut due to time, and the portion they filmed originally before splicing it out of the movie was of Greedo shooting first? They then completed the scene by putting the footage back in for the special edition. He directed it, and watched over the thing being shot, he'd know if he shot first or not.

Part of me wishes now that Lucas had just died after Jedi. It just makes me sad sometimes that my youth was shaped by something wonderful he made but he has spent my entire adult life trying to destroy and ruin it.

Every time I see one of those Vodafone adverts with Yoda in I die a little more inside.

I completely agree, im not massively into star wars but it's known that it's beloved by millions around the world, i hate seeing character pimped out to flog some crappy products.

Let's not forget Luca's ruining the end of 'Return of the Jedi' by putting that kid in there!

yeah it didn't make sense to me either, if they are showing anakin why not a young kenobi? Personally they should have left it as the original.

You clearly didn't understand the point of that scene. There's a perfectly good reason why it's the young Anakin that's there. At the root of it, because it's Anakin that's there and not vader, that was the last time he was Anakin, and not Vader, the sith.

I timed it just right -

Its been said "Genius is nothing but continued attention." -unknown

But he really needs to leave this saga alone.

I wish he would realize he has a desire to create more Star Wars movies - and then act on it. Not trying to passify his time with tweaks here and there -

Can someone tell me what is so bad about shooting Greedo first. Many movies we have seen the Han Solo-esque character who would have blown Greedo away as soon as he saw him, or at least beat the **** out of him and walk away....

This was clearly a hate crime, and Lucas edited it to look like the white man was acting in self-defense.

Yep - and when he stepped on Jabba's tail in the re-make it was clearly a euphemism for the white man walking all over the black man, right ?

Poor Lucas.

Maybe he thinks the only thing he has left is Star Wars, so keeps re-cutting it. Reminds me of that Simpsons episode when Marge re-cuts that dress many many times when she is invited to the posh club.

As others have said, it does not really matter who shot first and I love the Star Wars films. I am not a die hard cult worshipping follower or anything but in the blu-ray cut it is hardly even noticable unless you are specifically looking at it as it happens so fast. Just leave it be! And yes I do have the original VHS tapes as well ;) Thinking about grabing the laser disc versions just for kicks :p

If Greedo shot first how did he miss at point blank range, Mr. Lucas? Perhaps you can explain that?

Read Tales of the Cantina or whatever it was called. it's a book with short stories including the story of who Greedo is and how he ended up where he is. He's a nobody, and this was pretty much his first job. he's not some big bad well known bounty hunter, he's just pond scum.

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
