Edrick Smith
Sounds to me like he's trying to make up for his inadequacies in other departments. DocM
5'6" isn't THAT short... Depending on whose chart you use the average US male is 5' 10" to 5' 11", with a LOT of youngsters are now 6' or over. With the average woman now 5' 4.5", and younger women frequently over 5' 7", that puts a 5' 6" guy at a big disadvantage vs. taller men, and not just in the mating game - taller men advance faster & higher professionally as well. Life ain't fair. At 20 I was the shortest of my familys cousins at 6' 1.5" (62 now) and the pediatrician is estimating our youngest (14 next month) will peak at 6' 3". myNando
If I had leftover lottery money after giving some of it to charity and other things, I'd get the surgery. Only do 3" though. Japlabot
regardless, if you go to any med school, in your 3rd and 4th years, you get training in both. Not to mention, it relates directly to what he does... I spoke to a Psychiatrist today. He told me that they go to become a specialist, at a minimum you must go Medical School for at least 4 years (General Stream), then at least 2 years residency, and then further Study for the particular field (eg: Phychiatry or General Surgury). From there you can specialise even further, eg: General Surgery to Plastic Surgery. The Streams do not cross, only at a very broad level in the first 4 years before they decide to specialise. Cosmetic Surgeons are not required by their ethics to have a patient psychologically evaluated unless is is a particularly outrageous operation (such as a sex change or to make their face look like a cat), to avoid any legally liability if the patient has regrets about such a thing. In general the Plastic Surgeons would find Psychology and Psychiatry to be against the best interests of their profession if insecurities about appearance could be fixed without surgery and would also hurt a lot of repeat business when the patients keep coming back for more when they inevitably still feel insecure as the root cause has not been resolved. Obviously talking about cosmetic surgeries, not re-constructive. shamilbear
I'm 5 ft 1. He was 5 ft 6 and complaining. I'm not going to grow. I'm happy the way I am, and the person in love with me is happy with me. Yes, sometimes I do cry but I always get told that I am perfect.
