Is anyone here an ex-smoker and use electronic cigarettes? Been off cigarettes for almost 5 months now and using an e-cig. Just interested if anyone else has heard/used/seen these before as they are great devices that work!

I been stopped for almost 10 months now. Don't have or own an e-cigarette, but my ex-girlfriend used to have one, didn't taste or feel like a cigarette to me to be honest, can't explain why, think it may be that I'm was aware it wasn't a "real" cigarette.

Real cigarettes taste like ass, so glad I can notice it now as before as a smoker. Got all my taste buds back too which is good, plus my room smells like blueberrys, and clothes don't smell of cigarettes no more :)

Healthier, until they explode in your face :shiftyninja:.

Depends how you look at that situation giantpotato, if its end-user error, thats plausible, I know someone who threw out a lit cigarette butt, but failed to put it out and their house caught on fire. Do the right things, all is well :)

I used to spend $18 a day for a pack of smokes, so over $120 per week. Now with ecigs I spend less than $5 total a week. Go figure :)

Below is a photo of my ecig stock that can easily last me 2 years :p

Wayhay! Some fellow vapers on neowin. :)

Only been vaping for 1 month so far. I started with an "ego passthrough", that came with a pre-punched cartomiser and a tank. Got that for ?11 which was a nice cheap way to test it out (most kits like that are around ?40, but you get 2 of them).

Also got my gf a cigarette type one at the same time, so we could see what both types were like, but from what I had read/watched online, I knew it wasn't going to cut it. And indeed it didn't, she even came home from work one day and cried for apparently no reason, and she is generally tough as old boots. :/

So I got her an ego type one asap, a variable voltage one this time (in pink lol) and she is much happier now. Also got another vv ego and various other bits and bobs for myself as part of that deal from another user on a UK based vaping forum http://ukvapers.com

I found I outgrew my 2 egos pretty quick though, so now I have a "torpedo vvv", which is just a re-branded "Lavatube", and I'm loving it so far.

It's not a patch on mk1990s two awesome devices, but one step at a time :)

There are tons of other awesome "mods" out there that I'd love to get my hands on too, and no doubt I will in the near future.

My only regret is that I didn't find this amazing scene sooner.

@DARKFiB3R nice work mate, congrats to you and your missus on quitting :) Good to see fellow vapers on here!

I still use my ego for work as its light and easy to carry, my Provari is a treat as its VV

My next mod, im looking at silver bullet, its a standard 3.7v device or 6v if stacked (can explode in face if used unprotected battery) but ill be using a 18650 battery with low resistance 510 atomiser/carto at 3.7v and it should do the job :)

There's no proof that e-cigs are not good for you. I use one because I enjoy the flavor. (I have no nicotine as i've never smoked)

Plus it's a great head turner when you're inside a building and you just pull it out and start vaping. When people give the shocked expression, take it apart wait a few seconds, put it back together and vape again. THEN watch the reaction!!

Oh and it doesn't set off fire/smoke alarms either...

As for the drinking coffee question. Heard of decaf? Some people just like the taste. :p

I have to ask, I understand getting an e-cig to hepl you quit. But you quit ages ago, why are you still using one? They look rediculous and still are not good for you.

Many people switch to vaping as a heather, cheaper option, rather than quitting. I personally enjoy it, and have no intention of quitting any time soon.

The way they look (which is wildly diverse) is objective.

Yea, but i still enjoy my nicotine :) They look rediculous because the ecigs in my picture is around $1000

The cheaper cigarette looking ones dont cut it for me, like how DARKFiB3R's missus cried, my wallet cried instead :p

If I may ask you a question, why do you drink coffee? Because of the caffeine hit right? Same principle ;)

If you think what you have seen so far looks ridiculous, check out some of these beauties :) http://vapeporn.com

EDIT: Despite the URL, that link is actually SFW

Not my photo, but this is the same setup as I am using right now.

I don't see any $1000 ecig(s) in that picture, I see one ecig that is either ~$20 (+$16 for the tank carto) if it's an ego, ~$100 if it's a lava tube, or ~$180 if it's a Provari (I can't tell without zooming in on it and I'm too lazy, and it may not even be either of those for all I know, but it definitely looks to be a standard mass-produced model).

Personally I don't see all the fuss with variable voltage mods; I am and have been quite happy with my 3.7v 1000mAh ego batts for quite some time. If you want a 5v feel you can just put a LR atomizer on there. Still, one of the wonderful points of vaping is the number of options available to you. I know a lot of people who swear by 5v vaping.

Still, $1000? I think not; you'd have to get a Precise or something custom made, and even those don't run close to $1k.

Ego I paid $80 2 years ago

2 tanks $80

Provari $180 + $30 for entender cap + $20 for 2500 mah battery

SS GGTS $300 + $20 for battery + $150 for UFS Tank

So its close :p

@Darrian p.s whos side are you on anyways? :p hehe yea ego with LR works wonders, especially the 1000mah, but I bought my ego 2 years ago and its 600mah, not ad long lasting

Here is a picture of my babies, from left to right; Joye Ego + Liquinator tank, Stainless Steel Golden Greek Telescopic + UFS and the mighty Provari + Liquinator Tank

Who needs to zoom? lol

Also, surely all that typing took more effort than zooming?

Not sure of the cost either, but I know it comes to a good few quid, and I think he's talking AUS Dollars.

lol it's like 50%

If you paid $80 for an ego you got ripped off, cos that's what I paid 2 years ago (from Janty, who was and still is one of the more expensive vendors) and I got 2 of them, plus a charger, plus an atty, plus prefilled carts (god am I glad there are better things than carts now); one battery by itself ran (and still runs some places) about $26. I buy them for like $20 from Volcano.

Who needs to zoom? lol

Yes, it took more effort, but I wanted to talk more than I wanted to look closer. Basically I can't read the writing on the side easily cos the shot is dark, but I'm betting it's a Provari. Which means at most he probably spent $200 (for the unit; whatever he spent in extra batteries, chargers, spare attys or cartos, etc, are not in the picture). AUD seems to be worth more than USD at the moment.

Back to mk1990: Holy ****, $40 for a tank? What kind are you buying and where from?

That's how much egos went for back 2 and half years ago (including shipping), came with 2 batteries, 2 cones, usb charger, wall charger, manual, box, prefilled carts with 2 attys.

It is however cheaper now days espeically if you just buy battery and charger minus the kit

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
    • Well I really think the repasting helped if your higher clocks have returned, maybe the next thing to look at is if there is a problem with your case airflow? I guess this because your 3080 has returned to optimal state, but is still staying too warm, which might suggest it was thermal throttling before you repasted, of which the only logical conclusion could be outside factors.
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know by Hamid Ganji Galaxy Z Fold 7 - Image via Samsung The next generation of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled next month at the second Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s 2026 foldables are not expected to offer significant upgrades over their predecessors, with the Korean firm instead focusing on design refinements and conventional upgrades such as faster processors and better cameras. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil an all-new passport-style foldable this year to rival Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut this September. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices ahead of their official debut. When can we expect Samsung’s new foldables? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series were unveiled in July, and Samsung is expected to maintain this timeframe in 2026. Based on previous reports from Korean sources, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event on July 22 in London, UK, to pull back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The devices are also expected to hit the shelves a few weeks after launch. However, Samsung has yet to announce an official date. A new naming scheme? One of the most interesting changes we might see this year is a new naming scheme for Samsung’s latest foldables. SamMobile reported that since Samsung is expected to unveil three foldables this year, it has adopted a new naming strategy to simplify product identification for customers. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and will serve as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Ultra” suffix suggests the phone could feature higher-end specifications, such as additional rear camera modules. Samsung’s new passport-style foldable is expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name without any suffix. This model is reportedly equipped with two rear cameras. No major changes are expected for the Flip model. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 anticipated specs Rumors over the past few months suggest Samsung is preparing several upgrades for its upcoming foldables, although the devices may continue to rely on larger batteries and faster charging speeds rather than dramatic design changes. The primary focus this year is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wide-screen design. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here are the anticipated specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra based on previous leaks: 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage 4.1mm thickness when unfolded and a weight of 210g 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 10MP or 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP cover camera, and 10MP selfie camera 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 As for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the device is not expected to be a major departure from its predecessor, although it could become slightly slimmer. Expected specifications include: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 processor 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner dispaly and 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer dispaly 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 Samsung’s foldables are also expected to launch with Gemini Intelligence, Google’s AI suite for automating tasks in Android ecosystem. Moreover, given current memory and component costs, some Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 variants could see a price hike. Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a wide-screen design The centerpiece of the upcoming Unpacked event could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This model adopts a passport-style form factor and is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 8 official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here’s what to expect: 7.6-inch primary OLED display and 5.4-inch cover display, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits peak brightness, and 4:3 aspect ratio Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera Android 17 and One UI 9 The three new foldable phones are unlikely to be the only devices unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.
