But it's not truly Maxis...

Define "not truly Maxis" - so far, everyone involved has roots in at least one previous SimCity (not The Sims) game; in fact, most go back to at least SC2000 (the last SImCity to NOT require DirectX).

And have you tried CitiesXL or ANNO 2070 yet?

It's defined as 'EA owns them and EA is evil so they're clearly not the same.'

but eh, you've heard my piece on that before :p

I'm looking forward to this. Be nice if it comes out for XBOX 360, seeing is that I'm pretty sure Sim City came out for console long before PC.

I remember spending countless hours/days straight playing Sim City 2000 on old Nintendo. Played SC3000 and SC4 on PC though.

  • 2 months later...

Just got in the Beta 2! :D

I'll be having a spare key again so I'll be running another competition. If anybody is wondering, it starts 2PM GMT on Saturday and ends 2PM GMT on Sunday.

AKA 24 Hour Demo to get you hooked so you'll buy it.

Eh... I'm already hooked. I have no issue with it being EA. As long as it's a decent game I'll lay it :)

If I was in the last beta do I need to do anything to get into it again?

Nope, you should receive an email today or tomorrow.

I was in the original beta however I also pre-ordered off Amazon so I got a beta2 key :)

on the SNES SC2000 took countless hours to do anything! *lol* it was SLOW as heck thanks to the 3rd party dev that ported it......

Doesn't look like I got into this weekends beta, signed up 2 weeks ago. I need to try it before I waste money on it.

They might not have sent the beta codes out yet.

Pretty much, but they have supposedly taken on board a lot of feedback from the last beta.

A lot of the beta keys are for people who pre-ordered (ie it's a tactic to increase pre-orders), and in the last beta the thing kept nagging about pre-orders .. very annoying, especially when you do have it on pre-order.

I don't have any screenshots, but I enjoyed these YouTube videos of the first beta.

I pre-ordered it from Origin, but have yet to receive any beta 2 key!

just watched all 3 videos and am really impressed. I just wish I had a PC able to run it (im sure my old c2d laptop wont be able to). Love all the add-ons for certain buildings to upgrade it.

Just to clarify, I only currently have the beta 2 key from Amazon, nothing from Origin yet (and I'm garenteed in as I played beta1) :)

Maxis says beta 2 keys are going out tomorrow, Saturday.

A: If you have been selected, you will receive an email during Saturday February 16 with your unique redemption code and instructions how to join the beta. We want to get as many fans into the beta as possible, but we can only invite a small group of fans to participate.

Also keep in mind there is technically an NDA so anybody on these boards in the beta cannot talk about whats in it.

Unless the NDA has changed from the Beta 1, you are allowed to talk about, show screenshots and videos if you are in the Beta. You are not required to keep it secret :)

"You may disclose the following information and content, for non-commercial purposes only:

The fact that there is an official Beta Program for the Game.

2. The fact that you are a member of the official Beta Program for the Game.

3. Screen captures, pictures, videos, screenshots of any content in the Game or other Beta Materials.

4. Comments regarding the Game based on your participation as a Beta Tester.

5. Comments about features or functionalities in the Game or other Beta Materials.

6. General comments about the Game?s overall development."

    • How does it compare to the "SeeStar S30 Pro" and the "Vespera PRO 2"?
    • Indeed. And note that those units are MUCH cheaper than this new Steam Machine...ahem.
