Hi, i'm sorry if i'm posting in the wrong section.

I currently downloaded windows 8 and tried to install it,

after a few attempts i got it working BUT,

it runs slow, doesn't have internet connection en volume(volume is fixed with driver)

Also it says my windows 8 is not activated. (I try'd 2 different keys, wich are working but windows still ain't activated)

if i try to press to activate it shows me a error; (0x80072ee7) The server name or address could not be resolved.

Any ideas?

(please don't make me install win 8 again.. :p)

Greetings,

Ramcee

ps. sorry for my poor englsih

Well if you don't have internet connection then no you're not going to be able to connect to the activation servers.

Assuming you're just using onboard ethernet, download the drivers for your motherboard and transfer it to the computer via USB Drive/CD to get internet working.

wait you are trying to install a driver for a Network Card (NIC) or Wireless Card.

I'm trying to install a driver for my network card (hp pavillion t3260.nl)

In device manager my Intel® PRO/100 VE Network Connection is shown with an !

but i have no active adapters..

I've tried adding one but it returns no adaptars. :(

This is why I dislike consumer previews - everyone tries to install software that in fairness, they should just leave alone.

You need the drivers for your computer, specifically the chipset as this controls the network interface.

Obviously you cannot activate, as you must have a working internet connection for this first - hence the chipset drivers.

It's not the operating system that's at fault , the same would happen if the op tried to install windows 7 I suspect.

A similar thing happens if I use an Asus M4A88 motherboard .. lack of LAN drivers means I have to have those sorted before installation

Of course with a new board I would have a driver CD , but it's not always around with a second hand board.

You cannot activate unless you have an internet connection because Win 8 try to connect to MS server to activate.

Find the model of you network card and go to support page of either the computer maker or the network card maker.

get the drivers and install it.

Mine activated fine. Thought it expired in March ? Mines still going fine.

Developer Preview has been extended until January 2013.

I am not sure about consumer preview but if you type "winver" in run it will give you the expiration date.

did you do an upgrade or clean install???? The reason I think you are having problems are you did a clean install on a retail machine which the cp will not have all the drivers for. So like everyone is saying go to hp's website an get the drivers for your computer...keep your fingers crossed that they have them...start with motherboard driver and go from there

A last resort if you really want to try win 8 is to reinstall everything with windows 7 and upgrade to windows 8....The reason I say this is your machine is old ( I looked it up and it has xp drivers available) So you may have to get everything working in windows 7 then upgrade to windows 8

I completely agree. Except users seem to get their knickers in a twist about downloading a BETA (under a shiney name) OS and acting surprised when things run poorly - when realistically they'd either not bother or pay for the upgrade for a full release OS and have it installed in-store.

This is his PC, if he hasn't upgraded a thing.
