Technique
Before Gmail changed to its latest crappy look, i know you could log in via the web & sort your mail by sender, so if you want to mass delete, it was very easy. I don't seem to be able to do that now. For example, i wouldn't mind deleting a lot of eBay mails. But then there'll be plenty of mail from one sender that i can't remember which i'd like to delete too (in other words, if i can't remember the sender then i can't search for it). Is there any way to sort via sender to make things easier to delete?

Technique
do a search on the email id in gmail... its quick and gives you all the emails u need. This is great if you know the email IDbut if you're wanting to clear out many emails, you're not going to know ALL the junk email IDs (i have over 5000 emails to sort through if i do this) to search. It would be helpful if they could all be grouped so you could see them at once, rather than having some on page 1, some on page 3, some on page 9 etc.
AbandonedTrolley
I believe the only option at the moment is to use an external email client and sort them in there and do a mass delete.

primexx
search by keyword, you only need to find one email from a sender to get their address and search by that
Technique
So the answer is pretty much you can't do it & will need to go totally manual. Fair enough.
