Two questions:

1. which tiles are there now in the sidebar and which are working?

2. is it really faster as the other builds

1: Classic Tray, Clock, Quick Launch, Slide Show and Synchronize

2: More Stable than any other builds and a bit faster.

Wow this is all very interesting. :) Actually I'm feeling a definately case of Deja Vu.

I remember seeing some early pre beta build of Whistler and it was progressing a little like Longhorn.

But now that I see a pre beta of Longhorn, I'm impressed with the new features and ideas that are being included (Y)

This is going to be a great beta; once it's out!

Here's something i did:

Edit win32ui.dll with a resource editor. The product key screen is Dialog #109. What i did is delete the product key graphic and instead put a text box with my product key. That way when i install longhorn the product key is right where i type it.

It looks like ms didn't change how sysprep runs on this. If you don't have a product key you can use one from longhorn.

During the setup screen, just press shift +F10, then go to c:\sysprep. In that folder you'll find unattend.txt, that has a product key that WILL work for this build.

Can someone post the new wallpapers. I have seen a screenshot of one that is all gray with a darker gray X on it. In the lower right corner is the Microsoft flag with Longhorn under it. And yes Bliss is posted on the front page.

Still waiting for a log-on screen.

    • I can name 10x that on why not to switch.... It's funny outlook/office are going towards web app wrappers, and then MS is now preaching native apps again.... ugh can we just pick a lane and stay in it
    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
