make a shortcut for the dial-up thingy. (go to the network connections, and drag it to the startup folder. it will ask to make the shortcut. say yes)

open up the properties and tell it to dial automatically (not sure of the wording).

didn't work, created shortcut, slapped it into the startup directory for my user, didn't work. default user, didn't work. and all users, didn't work. :/

thanx anyway, anyone else with ideas?

Yeah the shortcut never seems to work under XP (except I have it working for some ungodly reason)

What you can do (and you'll need to look around for the code) is create a wsh script to create your RAS connection.

I know it can be done as I have done it, but can't recall how!

I have an alcatel speed-tocuh ADSL modem, and have created the dial-up account myself (not using any dialer software).

I create a shortcut to this in my startup and it works. This seems to be the case only for some users :(

As I suggested, create your WSH script, this should work!

create a shortcut, put it in the startup folder in the start menu, make sure you change the properties of the connection so under the "options" tab the only thing out the for check boxes that is ticked is "display progress while connecting", unless u dont wanna see that so in that case just untick them all!!!!

nice info, except, that is what has already been suggested and that i've tried to do.

njlouch, thanx. i'll have to google up on windows scripting host.

no i'm sticking it in the bin! Of course I am!!! bloody hell read my second post!!! i know where the startup folder(s) is/are too. i've been using pc's since dos3.0. i just need an quick easy way to dial on startup.

if i can't find a way i'll download some proggy.

just thought someone might have a surefire way to do it without need of external programs. as windows will auto start a network connection, but no option to start a dial up.

You've been using PC's since DOS 3.0 (3.3 more likely---3.0 wasn't a prominent release) and you didn't think of creating a shortcut and putting it in your Startup folder?

I doubt that.

oops dos 5.0. doh!

i actually did try to link the shortcut in task scheduler once, and that never worked either. tried slapping in the registry, again couldn't get it to work. i always plain forget to use the startup folder.

doubt it all you want

    • No one is surprised. It goes both ways. Warhammer remake is not on the PS5, but Xbox/PC and Game Pass day 1 and it is NOT a Microsoft owned game (Sega). 100% Microsoft money deal. Timed of course. Sega wins because they get the Microsoft money now then when the deal ends they get the much larger PS audience to make money from. As far as Black Myth is concerned, the Chinese gaming platform market is very much PC then PS then everything else. Consoles were banned in China for years, then allowed and the PS is the console of choice. The release of Black Myth actually saw a PS5 console sale spike because of Chinese gamer's buying PS5's just to play this game. With the ever shrinking Xbox console market I can see a point where 3rd party games try to get Sony exclusive money because the ROI for Xbox console versions of those games is a shrinking endeavor.
    • Yeah Microsoft's "recommendation" is based on some promotional partnership with Intel. This is not very news worthy.
