New iPad was shipped last night.

Mine is sitting in a warehouse in Middletown, PA and waiting to be overnighted to me here in Erie, PA (most likely on Thursday). So close, yet so far away! :s lol

Louisville, KY at the moment for mine. Anyone else order the Apple TV? I haven't gotten an email yet about it being shipped, just the iPad.

I considered Apple TV, but I am not sure that I want it just yet. What is the value of having it?

I mainly got it to be able to easily stream from my iPad directly to my TV. Eventually I also want to get back into App development so having a range of devices seems like a logical thing to do. I would have gotten one sooner but I was waiting on 1080.

Both of mine are in Nashville at the moment too. The St. Patrick's Day binge starts on Friday, so I won't be home to crack it open. Oh well, probably shouldn't be playing with it while intoxicated otherwise I probably will literally crack it.

Oh ok, that makes sense! :)

Mine's been sitting in Nashville, TN since March 10 for delivery to Indianapolis, IN.

Got my new smart cover last Saturday and my extra power adapter on Monday. Getting the accessories before the device is just killing me.

Apple TV finally shipped and is still listed to get here the day after tomorrow.

Also, like others, I got my accessories like the cover already. Reminds me of when I was kid. Opened a christmas present which turned out to be Super Mario. I wasn't allowed to open the big box until last.

Not as standard, you need, as Tobacco said an adapter http://store.apple.c...ode=MTc0MjU4NjE

Just called FedEx. Picking up the TV today. They did overnight to my local FedEx location. Will probably go get it during lunch. UPS still says the iPad is in Kentucky though I imagine today it will be moved to Oklahoma so it can make the long drive tomorrow to my house.

Right, got fed up of not knowing so I phoned TNT and they have confirmed it will be delivered tomorrow! and now its magically shown up on their system...humm. Currently in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Now just gotta sit here from 8am until "close of business" tomorrow waiting for it...grr I wish they'd give you some idea of when it'd arrive within the day.

Got a bit antsy at work and took my lunch to pick it up from FedEx. Don't get to turn it on for another 4.5 hours though.

I wonder if I order now, will I get it on Friday? (UK, London)

Not a chance, delivery times are currently 2-3 weeks http://store.apple.c...pad/select_ipad

You would have had to order in the 2/3 days after the announcement to get it on release.

Your only option to get it friday is a nice early start and down to your Apple store for 8AM.

Or possibly mobile carrier shops (O2, Voadfone, Orange T-Mobiel) if you want a "4G" version which is utterly pointless in the UK as we dont have 4G and it won't work with our 4G when we do get it.

I was planning to get the 4G version, because I find the Wi-Fi version pointless  .

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
