Just bought an iPhone 4.. What now?

Been playing on what could be considered half my life savings all day.. Love it so far! 6 hours constant use and the battery died. Brightness full, WiFi on, apps downloading/installing. V. Impressed.

Apart from the previous apps mentioned, has anyone else got any apps/games they love or reccomend?

Also, where is the best UK place to get a decent Bumper case for the iPhone (No more than ?10)?

There is plenty of games, but just depends what you love yourself. You can spend hours just looking through. Playing Tiny Tower and Minecraft at the moment on the way to and from work. Will probly get GTA3 this week. Have about 40 games.. to many to list, obvious ones like Angry Birds etc, Draw Something... Just go through the top lists and grab what ever takes your fancy. I wouldn't worry about JB either, just trial the free games then if you like it buy it. Its a dollar, so much easier to update and keep backed up. 99% of people saying you need to jailbreak for custimization don't do it for that, they're just tight asses who don't want to pay for games or apps.

Everytime I have bought a case its been a $1.00 ebay hong kong special and has done fine, any of the gel ones :)

I've decided to gone with this case:

I wouldn't use a screen protector. The bumper and some cases like it are OK and probably something you should invest in if you have problems dropping your phone as the iPhone 4 is quite dainty.

You might want to get the screen protector, but I have to say that I absolutely hate them. Here is my conclusion: Screen protectors suck and ruin the touch experience and make the screen look like crap (because they are easily scratched). Do I want to use my device with a ****ty screen protector that ruins the whole experience throughout the life of the product just so it can be in "mint" condition when I'm done or do I want to just enjoy my device the way it was intended? I've had my iPhone 4 since launch (1 year 9 months) and I have some very small scratches in the top right hand corner that I can't even see unless I look for them and shine the light just right on them. Never have used a screen protector.

Jailbreaking is personal preference, but I don't think it is really necessary for most people. If you really wanted a customizable experience, should have went with Android. The iPhone is fantastic right out of the box. Most Jailbreaking applications are expensive (unless you go the illegal route), and they tend to be buggy in my experience. I have my iPhone 3GS jailbroken but thats just so I could use it as a make-shift Apple TV 2 for airplay support. I've had my iPhone and iPad jailbroken off-and-on and everytime I've done it I see very little benefit from it.

* Redbox (good for reserving movies at my nearby readbox)

* Pandora (for when I don't know what I want to listen to)

Pay for apps that I use:

* Momento (great for me to track things like when I pay my bills, change the oil in my car, change the water filter in my fridge, stuff like that)

* BeejiveIM (Was the best IM back in the day, but I haven't seen a substantial update in some time..might be something better now)

* RemoteX (Very good Windows PC remote application. Highly customizable. Works great with my DirecTV2PC)

* GoodReader (Awesome PDF and document reader/archive unzipper / general file store)

* iPhoto (Actually really good for the price. If you don't like that I would recommend Photogene2).

The screen protectors with a matte film look pretty good, with the side effect of making the screen "snowy." The glossy screen protectors scratch way too easily.

I'd get a screen protector if it's effective at warding off fingerprints, as the oleophobic coating on my phone's screen isn't as fingerprint resistant as I would like it to be.

I have had my iphone 4 for nearly 2 years now and since last xmas, I stopped bothering with screen protectors. The iphone's own screen is extremely stratch resistant anyway. I been scratching it on many surfaces, yet it still looks like new. Just worry about cases because, you are right, it reduce damage significently. I've dropped my iphone about 5 times (in bathroom, in lougeroom, out in the yard, in my bedroom), yet it looks like new and I only had a bumper that I got from Apple for free (when they had that bumper program). But that went crap after a year so my mum gave me her ottobox-style case to borrow until I buy my own.

iphones are very durable. These photos of cracked screens are bogus. almost everyone in my family have a iphone and no one has their screens cracked. Therefore, I always suspect foul play with those cracked screens floating around the net.

So, I've made the bold and possibly rushed decision of purchasing an iPhone 4 from eBay.

It's a brand new iphone 4, unopened etc with all original accessories.

What do you guys recommend I get before I start using it as my primary phone?

• Do I need a case? Where should I get one? - I drop my current phone a lot.

Definitely a case if you drop the phone a lot. I would highly recommend the Qmadix Holster Shell Combo for Apple iPhone 4/4S. It protects the entire phone, it eliminates the need for a screen protector (which you really don't need).

For music I would look into iTunes Match ($20 US / year)

I don't use a lot of productivity apps on my iPhone because my Galaxy Nexus and my iPad (3rd Gen) are my daily drivers. But you can get something like, Nook, Kindle, Google Play Books, iWorks suite, etc.)

Should of waited. Isnt the Iphone 5 coming out in a few months?

No. Most likely around October otherwise it would devalue the iPhone 4S. Apple likes to do at least a year. A couple of months would make it really shy of a year.

I mostly have games on mine.

Zombieville, CrossFingers, sudoku2, Risk, CC Runner, Game of Life, Lights Off HD, Angry Birds, Cw: Gunner, Pocket Tanks, Mr.AahH!!, Unblock Me, TobbzFree, Cartoon Wars, Enigmo.

A surprisingly useful app is the Flashlight. Use that all the time. Look into Tango if you want to be able to video chat with people that don't have an iDevice.

Depending on subscriptions you have, other apps to look into are Netflix, HBO Go, and Max Go plus TED and G4.
